Its at its loudest on first cold start in your garage in the morning.
2x loud if you're trying to be quiet.
3x loud if you're trying not to wake up neighbors.
4x loud if the baby sleeping.

I'm curious how racetracks might measure it, though I suppose it differs from track to track. I have an NHMS event this summer and it's 99 dB max.

A monitor on the corner, usually near a tower/stand. So you do get a distance bonus of not being as close, which is why some exhausts just route away from the corner.

SCCA has a max db of 108db with the sound meter mic 50 feet from the side of the track. Some track require lower limits depending on their neighbors and some tracks change their max db limit depending on the time of day. I think Laguna Seca has a limit of around 92db before noon and 102db after noon.

Key point here. I'm also an SCCA racer. db's are measured typically at 50ft, so you're not going to find a lot of apples to apples comparisons at 4'. I believe my straight piped RX7 hits 96db at an SCCA event, and I can guarantee it's significantly louder than a C8 corvette (and it spits fire!)

If you search the threads for Borla exhaust you will find posts from Ian Borla that publish tests performed by Borla using some spec (not ANSI but another testing agency). They published decibel levels for OEM NPP, Borla genuine GM accessory, Borla S-type and Borla ATAK. If you can't find them I'll see if I can dig them out sometime tomorrow.

""Unfortunately we don't test for maximum dB level. We use test standard SAE J1492 to measure the volume of our exhaust systems.
The Stock NPP exhaust averaged 86.6 dB in Touring mode and 89 dB in Track mode.
The S-Type averaged 92.4 dB in Touring mode and 101.3 dB in Track mode.
The ATAK averaged 100.9 dB in Touring mode and 104.4 dB in Track mode.
Using the same test standard, SAE J1492, the GM Borla system averaged 92.7 decibels in Track mode. It's only a bit more aggressive than the stock NPP exhaust."
