Default Jacking Pucks

Trying to decide if I need a set of these in my Frunk "bag". I'm pretty sure my dealer uses them, why would i need to carry a set in my car?

I'm buying "stuff" I think I'll need for my car. I see these pucks everywhere. I will never jack it up myself.

You can take the risk that everyone at every dealership and service center knows and remembers to use pucks… or you can spend $20-$40 and not have cracked rocker panels (that can’t be easily replaced),

Hockey pucks work perfectly and are a heck of a lot cheaper. If you don't plan to ever jack the car up yourself though then don't waste the money; the dealers have what they need.

Hockey pucks aren't anchored to anything. A side load applied to car sitting on hockey pucks could be disasterous for anyone under the car.

As for whether you need them at all, can you guarantee your car will always be service at a dealer? That there will never be a situation where you need service while on the road, with no dealer available? Shred a tire while travelling and need to go to a local tire store, for example?

I've been using hockey pucks for decades. They provide better "grip" than the solid metal jacking pucks. If a strong enough side load is applied to a car while jacked up to slide off I don't care if you're using hockey pucks, metal pucks, whatever, its going to end horrible. But with that said, I doubt too many shops or garages have 1,000 pound bulls running into the side if cars while someone's underneath it
Simply slamming a door, someone getting in & out of the car, etc. does not pose a threat (my wife & I do this plenty while bleeding the brakes, for example).

Just buy the Amazon ones and leave them on the car. They take 10 minutes to install and you'll forget they're even on the car after a week.

The dealer will probably know to put them on, but I doubt a Discount Tire or whatever will. If you think you'll never get a nail in a tire or anything like that, then sure.

For me, makes sense to just put the permanent ones on that are red and have "LIFT HERE" text on them.

...until they get hooked on something since you've now intentionally bolted something to the car that hangs lower. I'll keep my already minimal ground clearance as it is.

lol what? the Amazon pucks stick out maybe 1 more inch from the frame. You can't be serious. If you're running over objects that come in contact with the under carriage you have bigger things to worry about.

On 2 separate occasions with our Vettes the dealership has had to borrow MY pucks as they couldn't find theirs..... I wrote my last name on the side edge of each aluminum puck in magic marker so there was no question as to who they belong to.

On the C8, I've installed a set of LEAVE IN pucks, so there is no question as to whether or not a dealer uses them or not....... Amazon.. $36..... Choose your color....

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cheap insurance in my opinion.....

Is the photo in that listing showing two pads mounted together? It looks like a double thickness.

My suggestion - buy a set of pucks that remain in place and not have to worry whether a repair facility has a set. Worth the peace of mind to save potential damage to the car.

Used these the last 20+ years over 4 models. Had to make a few adjustments with the Dremel to fit the smaller rail slots but bet I’ve jacked up my cars over 100 times with these. Got less then $10 in them

ZL1 Addons these work great with the 1.5 inch rubber blocks and the extensions for QuickJack

I have NO IDEA what they've taken a picture of in that "After" pic. It's NOT correct. I agree with your thought that it looks stacked up The other pictures from the Amazon ad look correct. They do have a chamfered edge on them.

I bought rubber ones from amazon for $12. I am sure dealerships have these but if for any reason someone else needs to lift, I spray painted them Fluorescent yellow. so can be seen.

I saw some plastic ones, but I couldn't find them for the C8. Are the "jacking points" the same as the C7?
