???? Both are N/A and have the engine in the back...How?
No hybrid assist. No Turbo. Is it apples and oranges because the gt3 is the much better car and just happens to cost more? Isn't the gt3 a stick shift too?
The only thing I have to say is that they launched the vette like sh*t. 0-62 of 3.7?!

Safety Car
The very outcome I would expect.
C8 is 495hp and weighs 3600lbs, the 911 GT3 is 520hp and weighs 3100lbs. While HP is close, the 500lbs weight advantage and the ability for the 911 to launch harder will make it hard for the C8 to catch it.

I have a GT3 on allocation for 2023. I’ve also had a number of 911s over the years and am continually amazed on what Porsche can squeeze out of a N/A Flat 6.
They are great cars but a better comparison would be the Z06 vs GT3. Both purposely built for track and I think the Z06 will be the winner in a straight line with the GT3 being slightly better on the twisties. Yes, the GT3 is more, like $150k more.

I am just left scratching my head when no one would dispute that the c8 is a high performance car yet when it gets beat by another high performance car it is because the other high performance car has more "track" features. Legitimately think about it, how many times have you seen that the c8 is the best supercar for your buck or the best sports car for your buck? Now it gets differentiated? The distinction between performance car and track car only comes about when a thrashing takes place. It is mental gymnastics. The gt3 is the superior performance car and there is nothing wrong with that, ESPECIALLY for 100k more.
I personally just think that the cars start to get distinguished because maybe on some level the owners feel emasculated. Just my personal opinion.
Edit: BTW none of that was directed to you. It was a response but not postured as you think counter to all of those things.

I respect the marque but just don't care for a musseled up bug.
Same car since the 30's albeit modified. The last of the good ones had air cooled engines.
Who the hell with a sports car cares about drag racing? Just get yourself a v8 vega or pinto.

Base model C8 vs the hyped-up performance version of the 911?
Let's see this again with the Z06.

LOL, not even close to the same car. Porsche is more loyal to continuity in styling cues, but that's superficial stuff.

I understand what the differences are and I am not at all trying to be argumentative with you - I mean that.

My biggest concern in purchasing a 991.1 is the youngest car would be 6 years old at this point. Most Porsche owners do the maintenance but without an intensive PPI with borescope, etc, it will be a gamble….also an extended warranty is $6k for anything decent (Fidelity Platinum).
The C8 just feels right to me, and I’ve had 911s since the 964 days. If you haven’t done the Ron Fellows track experience, do it. It sold me on the C8 as I did that before purchase. The balance fits to my style of track experience and, well, talent (ego in check). A better track car doesn’t make a better driver….in some cases just the opposite.
I’ll keep the GTS until the GT3 arrives, or maybe just bail on it and keep the GTS, or perhaps just sell it as well. The only reason I put a GT3 on allocation is that I’ve always had a 911. I just can’t get into the whole EV stuff. I need noise, and wonderful noise at that.

I had a 991.1S and still have a 991.1GTS. The 991.2 certainly has more “performance” and can be tweaked easier because it has the turbo motor. For me it was the N/A wale at 5k+ rpm and the linear pull. The chassis is basically the same between the two so that’s a wash.
