Z51 without MSRC

Z51 without MSRC
I realize the whole z51 thing has been debated to death but what I haven’t seen talked about much and what I am most interested in, is to get feedback from C8 owners that have z51 without magride. I know this is about opinion but do you feel that the ride with z51 without magride is to harsh and is it acceptable as a daily driver? Once again, I would really just like to get opinions from c8 owners of z51 without magride on their opinions on the ride. It is the only option I am on the fence about. Thanks for your time.

I have a Z51 w/o mag ride and it rides great but still handles fantastically.
I've told people it rides like a Cadillac and handles like a Corvette.
Much better ride than any other Z51 I've owned, believe me.

Thank goodness because I ordered mine W/O mag ride with Z51 and I was a bit worried.

Let me weigh in here... the MSRC on the Corvette is the most sophisticated and capable OEM suspension technology available.... people spend $5-10K on aftermarket coilovers to get the same capability... and may not get the same results... so you choose.

I am not debating that. I am sure it is a great system everyone says so. I just don’t want to spend $2k if I don’t need it. Rather spend it on rims etc. If z51 is too harsh without it I would go ahead and get it.

Are you going for the Z51 for the looks or the more connected feel? Because, if it is for the feel, the MSRC allows you an even more connected feel but with the ability of softening up the ride to close of what a base would be.

Ultimately, I think you’re asking if the non-magnetic ride is “good enough” so you can justify not paying for it.
I’ve owned Corvettes with and without magnetic ride. After driving a non-magnetic ride C7 5 hours to pick up a new C7 with magnetic ride, I can tell you the differences are startling. I swore I’d never get a Corvette without it. From a comfort and performance standpoint it is an amazing option. My C8 HTC has Z51 w/ mag ride and I couldn’t be happier. My advice, get mag ride and skip Z51 if you have a budget but mag ride is worth it. Trust me.

Advanced
I had z51 without mag ride (3800 miles) and it rode and handled great. A big improvement over previous generations.
I now have a z51 with mag ride (750 miles) and it is very advanced technology that does work. The real benefit IMO is track use (it is really firm in track mode). There is a more noticeable difference between sport/track compared to tour/sport modes. The z51 with mag ride in tour mode it is a bit softer than a z51 non mag ride. To me it is not a must have but take into account I prefer to drive in sport mode 90% of the time. It handles the way it was meant. I would describe mag ride as more of icing on the cake.
Having some seat time in a non z51 with mag ride,, it has proven to be a non starter for me. IMO it is missing some feel even with mag ride sport/track modes. The sportier ride, handling, braking, elsd etc. that the z51 provides is why I think you can’t go wrong with either z51 option.
hope this helps.

Z51 with no mag ride. This is the most comfortable car I've owned. I'm sure mag ride would make it better but is it needed? No. Like I said, this is the most comfortable riding car I've owned. Mind you I've only ever owned sports cars and trucks. But still, this car is so comfortable that I see no reason for more comfort with mag ride. To each their own

For me I am going Z51 with no MSRC. I realized 99% of the time I will have the car set to sport or track. It’s not my daily driver, so I’m sure that plays a role too. If it was I might opt for it.

Yep! My C6 Z51 and my C7 2014 Z51 did not have MRC. Our relatively good roads in NE SC the ride was fine. In fact there is an advantage if you don't have pot hole ridden roads due to freezing etc. You can drive in Track with zero effect on ride and get fast Throttle Response, Less Obtrusive Nannies!
In fact when I got my 2017 Grand Sport that came with MRC- no choice- was driving in Touring to get a ride just slightly better than my none MRC 2014 Z51. BUT until I paid the $350 for the MRC software upgrade so I could drive in Sport (without the new software it was harsh when I hit a bump) I bought a throttle progression control device to match the faster tip-in I was used to!
I bought MRC for my C8 Z51 and it's in Sport all the time. Only change to Weather Mode (as I did my prior non MRC Vettes) when it rains or cold FOR the slower tip-in AND nannies that come in sooner! There is no downside and MRC does help stability in fast transient maneuvers!

I have put 10,000 miles on my 2020 Z51 without magride. Extremely comfortable and handles like a sports car should handle. No regrets.

Thank you all for the comments. I believe this will solidify going with the Z51 only but will welcome more comments. This forum is SO helpful during a time when there aren't multiple options at dealerships for you to try out in person.
Cheers!

I'm going z51 without mag ride , I already own a c7 z51 without mag ride and it rides great , I hear everyone saying that the c8 rides even better than the c7 did without mag ride so that's what I'm going with . I only ride in one mode anyway and I never plan on tracking it .

Anecdotal
While Z51 probably has some noticeable performance differences. But likely is overkill for most who choose it. Mag ride is not so easily quantifiable. You are either a blind faith believer or don't get it. I'm in the don't get it category. And so we didn't. Its a sports car for crying out loud. If you wanted a Sealy Posturpedic on wheels, search for a car like your Dad's Caddy DeVille. Then GI Joe's Used Cars is a better place to shop.
