Nightmare Dealer Service trying to screw me over
I gave the dealership ample time in finding a resolution for me before posting this issue. They are only getting worse. Hopefully I can get some backing or support here. Here it goes
2020 C8
Back in August of 2021 my rear trunk would not open electronically, I scheduled a service appointment but then the trunk started working properly again the next week and I cancelled service. Two Months later it started happening again but wouldn’t even open manually this time. After some research and a recommendation, I finally settled on where I was bringing my vehicle. I still won’t name them as I would still like to give GM a chance to correct this experience.
They could not get it open, after 4 days I receive a call from the service manager. Interrogating my on the traces of sand he sees on my floor mat (sand from me going to the beach all summer). He then mentions dirt build up in the engine compartment (referring to the area directly under the open portion of the rear glass, where rain and elements enter). He tells me he is concluding that my vehicle was flooded and GM refuses to repair it. He told me to get insurance involved. We argued a bit and I explained to him that I have PDR footage along with home footage showing the vehicles whereabouts and activities at all times dating back 2 months. He still argued his accusation.
I told him I was coming down so he could show me himself (I’m an hour away and he called me an hour before closing). He tells me he won’t be there and he won’t wait for me since he’s been there since 6am. I went anyway and video documented my entire vehicle. This was on a Saturday.
I went back when they opened on Monday and spoke to him in person. He was rude, accusedme of lying, interrogated me, cursed at me and shoved my keys in my face to take the vehicle. After me refusing to accept my vehicle without a resolution he finally agreed to have an engineer come out to see the vehicle. An engineer he happens to know for 27 years. The only engineer supposedly that works that area.
In the meantime, I had filed a case with GM. My case advisor spoke with me once over the course of 3 days and is not returning my calls.
Engineer was scheduled to come Tuesday. I called to see if he came and nobody would get back to me. Finally, I got someone in service to agree to call me when the engineer was there. I don’t trust them so I went down myself. Spoke to the corvettes tech and he told me the engineer had already come earlier in the morning. I asked for the service advisor and we spoke. He told me the engineer would not disclose anything to anyone and he would call me back later in the day to give me the report.
Of course, I never heard from him. The next day after a bunch of calls I finally got through and he told me the engineers’ findings were inconclusive and the only option is for me to authorize them to drill a 3-inch hole through the top of my trunk (around the latch) in order to release the hatch. At that point they would examine further to determine whether they would cover the cost or not if it appears to have been a defect. I do not trust them one bit and did not yet authorize anything further. I am going to ask GM if I can have a 3rd party present or even someone else from GM who is not friends with the service manager, when they drill, to document findings. Or I may make this same request but to be done at a different dealership.
I still have many unanswered questions and these guys are really taking me for a ride but I have everything documented and recorded with undeniable proof that they are lying and my car was never flooded.

***********UPDATE***********
Unbeknownst to me, GM sent a second Field service engineer to look at my vehicle today. I made it clear with GM and the Dealership that I did not want my trunk drilled without me present, if it came down to that. They drilled it anyway (not the trunk, but the rear bumper fascia). I'm not mad though.
They determined failure was a warranty concern. When the vehicle was built they forgot to put certain shutters on the car which would divert water intrusion which in turn lead to water getting into the hatch. Its the plants fault for not properly assembling the vehicle. They are going to cover it and replace and repair the fascia and trunk carpeting etc.
Now to see if I can get my first service honored and the damaged paint from the first dealer repaired.
Thank you everyone who helped out, many gave great advice, suggestions and went above and beyond. I do appreciate it!

Wow I do not know what to say except you are being treated like total crap and I feel badly for you. I don't have any advice but hope this gets resolved. I would consider taking it to another dealer and post the name of this one.

Unsatisfactory service experience
Wow, this is awful. I would call Chevrolet customer care again and ask for a supervisor if they give you a run around mention you will be calling the President’s office. Once you get ahold of a GM representative ask them what they suggest. I personally would ask them for another recommendation of a competent Chevrolet dealer that is willing to help you with this matter.
keep us posted what transpires.
best of luck.

Thank you, yes you have no idea how unprofessional this service manager is. I seriously do not want to tarnish their name and I want to give them every last chance to correct this. I am a business man and I would want to be given the chance to redeem myself for the wrong doings of someone I had vouched for i.e. an employee. The service manager is the issue and hes the one who is in the wrong, anyone else under him, i'm sure is just following his orders and doing whatever he says.

I smell bullshit. In my experience, stories like usually find truth somewhere in the middle. I don't think you gain anything by bringing trash like that here.
Names names so we can draw a reasonable conclusion. Lets hear the dealers side.

I am waiting to hear back from the owner of the dealership. If the owner does not provide a solution then at that point I would not mind posting names and information. I am giving you guys nothing but the truth. Like I said, I have tons of documentation including video footage should it get dragged out that far. Everythings uploaded on my youtube channel set to private, just waiting.

Yes, I stayed absolutely calm and collected. I think that's what got him to cursing. I tolerated it because it can only help my case. I'm a reserved person until the point someone becomes threatening. I do not want to remove my car from that place until GM has a full understanding of what has taken place. It's not him I'm giving the chance to but the dealership as a whole. I know what your saying though.

The interesting part is it took 4 days for them to determine their claim of the car being flooded. On day two I had an update that the tech was still trying to figure out a way to gain access to the trunk. Only when they gave up did they then decide the vehicle was flooded. The tech told me in order for water to get into the latching mechanism, it would have had to been as high as the trunk, which would mean the engine was completely submerged. Comical if you ask me.

Yah, I agree. ^^^^ Chevrolet dealer?
BTW, there ARE dealers and factory personnel as the OP described. I ran into some Dussies @ Mercedes-Benz.
