Default Parking brake button

My only small gripe so far with my C8 is the location of the parking brake button. It's way down under there.
I guess I'm used to my '17 SS. The button is right there on the console.
Just wondering why they hid it down there. I'm always "feeling" for it.

OK - one more gripe. I can't turn off auto dimming mirrors.
And I can't seem to adapt to the camera mirror yet. (old age maybe)

Agree the location is difficult to view and depending on seat adjustment reach. Interesting to learn why it was moved from the console. The C7 location was definitely easier to find and operate.

Agree. It only makes sense if they did not intend to be used regularly.

I hate the new rear camera mirror, I flip that off instantly.

My first 'vette. I have no problem finding the parking brake button. I use if every time I park and reach for it instinctively now. I think it's just a matter of getting used to the location.

I've developed a three motion routine. Park button, Brake button, Off button.

Releasing the parking brake can be done after starting the car, putting it in gear and pressing the accelerator pedal. If you park on a slight incline the parking brake will set automatically when the engine is shutoff.

Funny, after a year owning a C8, just found that it had a parking brake button when someone complained about it's location a few months ago! Never use it!

The TV Camera mirror is the best thing since sliced bread, IMO! Have mine set like the convex passenger side door mirror- with a wide view. Best rear view I have ever had and helps keep my 60 year driving record of not having an accident with another car. Particularly great to know what fast moving car will soon be in your blind spot! With the TV mirror few can every come even close without me knowing before time!

TO EACH THEIR OWN!

PS: I found I had to adjust the "TV Mirror" so if I flipped it to a standard mirror I'd be lookin at myself! Works great with the progressive glasses I have worn 35 years! Standard mirror in my coupe gives a poor view of the rear, worse than my two C7s that were bad!

I don't know why they didn't make it automatically engage when the transmission is put in Park and the engine is shut off, and automatically disengage when the car is put in gear. My wife's Avalon does that and it is convenient.

Is it only me or does anyone else miss having an EMERGENCY BRAKE instead of a PARKING brake?

I think I'd agree (about non use) but having barely had mine for a week, I get a notable roll back after putting it in park...in even in my level garage. A few times it has kinda surprised me. Its on the small list of things for my dealer to take a peak at when I go in for my first oil change.

As cool as it seemed prior to getting, I find that I’m reaching for my glasses when I look up on the camera view

On that same venue, as I drove home last night and my lights turned on (automatically), the dash lighting was too dim - from the last time I used them, I had turned them waaay down as it was eventually full dark. As I looked around, I realized that I had no idea how to adjust the dash brightness. Not on infotainment screen, or some button on the center, wheel stall or something .... I said to myself, where would they have put that damn thing. Sure enough, it was the next first place I looked - below the dash above my left knee. The frustration was that I was on the interstate and is was getting dark rapidly. I should have done a better preflight knowing that I was going to go from day to night as I drove. (RE)Familiarize yourself with your Game Changer if it isn't your daily driver and it's not driven frequently enough.

Thankfully as you found out, it seems to be in the "standard" location. Well, it used to be on the lighting ****, back before they put lights on a stalk (and who remembers the floor mounted dimmer switch for the brights).
It's one of the first things I look for when I get a new car. Far too many people drive with BRIGHT dash lights, not realizing how much it impacts your ability to see down the road. AND far too many cars don't go dim enough. I love the fact that you can turn it so far down it's OFF.

Like GM cares where they stick the brake button... So many such examples over the years.

We're flat as a pancake in NE SC so it rolls nowhere!

I’m curious. Did you find the OP’s comment valuable or not? Do they allow Corvettes at Walden Pond?

I believe that normal Big, did the same in the 2 C8s I've had.
