Why does GM dislike Black Rims?

Black wheels are not a fad, they're a standard. They've come on cars since the beginning and are still here through the years. Chrome is the fad which has recently ended (finally).

I originally ordered the C8 with black tridents. Salesman checked with his manager and the black tridents where on back order.
This was late March this year. He states you can order them but they won’t deliver the car till the rims are available.
To get as much summer time driving as possible I took the silver tridents and got the car late June.
Before I got the car early June I checked with my GM parts manager acquaintance he checked he stated I can get you a set in 2 days. I got the All seasons from Costco. They did not want to mount them due to possible scratching the rims. I had my son mount them on there new 45k tire machine. I am happy with them and the black ones are my main set. But for a different look I do switch them to the other tridents like when I got a staple in the tire 😳
As soon as you get low pressure if you can safely pull over and stop driving and get someone to bring you a spare so you drive as least as possible on the run flats. 30 miles and they are toast no matter where the puncture.
Remember beauty is always in the eye of the beholder especially at last call. 😅

I went for the stock look as well. Silver Tridents with Sports Michelin’s . Black Tridents with Michelin All Seasons.
Front or back ??
So the younger crowd all go for the black look. 45 and over you start getting into the silvers.
I like them both can switch them in 35 minutes now with a floor jack.

I am the odd one here, it appears. I have the black wheels with the machined edge, on Arctic White car. I like it ok, dont think its fantastic. Most that see mine claim they like it. I think I would have preferred the gray trident wheels offered by GM. But here is where I am really odd. I have been looking at aftermarket wheels of all sorts, and there is nothing I see that makes me say I gotta have that. The one case where I saw some aftermarket wheels that really set the car off was on what I think was a Zeuss Bronze car. It had some sort of bronzish/gold colored wheels that really looked good with that car color. I had a burgundy 76 vette once, with chrome wire wheels. That looked really good with that color too.

I agree completely. I don't mind the OEM wheels and have seen nothing aftermarket that makes me want to change. More than willing to swap if something wows me...

People want to be justified, agreed with, or led. Especially when they have no opinion of what they will choose. Many stupid comments are made by some trying to baselessly bully or shame others preferences and choices...IMHO.....

I feel that both Black wheels and Non-black wheels can create two different appearances: aggressive and mean VS aggressive and classy. On my 458, I started out with Black Speciale OEM wheels (20") and then moved to Silver HRE's (21" F + 22" R). Both look good yet very different.
On my 2022 HSG C8, I decided to start with Black Trident's and will probably enjoy that for 6 months and then move to an HRE, Vossen or something more interesting and a little larger.
If the car is not lowered the Black wheel gives it a lower appearance IMO because your eye cannot distinguish the wheel gap at first glance or while rolling.
