Best way + timeframe for getting a new C8?
Hi guys, I went to a Chevy dealer today naively thinking I'd be able to at least see a C8. I haven't been car shopping in 6 years. I knew there was a semiconductor shortage, but I wasn't aware of the scope of it. I was quite literally laughed out of the building by an old guy with a hearing aid. He told me if I wanted a C8, it'd be 2025.
Is this accurate information? What's the timeframe for getting a C8 at as close to MSRP as possible?

You need to do lot of footwork. I see basically 2 paths. First one is to go with a big dealer…..but they have long lists. Second is to call around smaller dealers and hope you stumble on one with an allocation. Don’t limit yourself to your home state.
Recently gm gave allocations to dealers who have sold few or no cars the last 2 years. It may be too late to snag one of those don’t know but call around.
It will be some work and a bit of luck but it is a challenge. Gm announced the chip shortage is not affecting corvette production for now, could change.

2025 may be when HE will be able to get one to sell you, but if you get on a list NOW with MacMulkin, (or one of the other "big three") you should have your car in less than a year..
You can HOPE for 8 to 9 months, .. You can get lucky and find a dealer with an unclaimed allocation.. but it will be diligence and luck..
Put down you deposit NOW but keep looking. Deposits are refundable.

Try Rick Hendrick in Duluth. Talk to Chris over there. Seems like their line is going faster than the bigger names...though that might be changing as more people from the forum contact them.

Call Mike. He’s the best in the Corvette business.
No games, no price gouging, great professional service and you’ll get a C8 sometime between 12-18 months. Maybe sooner ..,,,,

My local dealer in Colorado Springs has 6 and if you check the prices, you will understand why I bought mine for msrp at Matick Chevrolet in the Detriot area.

Depends how many and how quickly gm can get them out the door. A c8 that sounds and revs like a 458? They will sell every last one as quickly as they're made.

Your assumption re chips is also wrong for the CORVETTE. At current production that does not appear to be an issue, however transmissions, etc etc are limiting parts they can get to one degree or another.

There's nowhere to get one @ MSRP in 5-7 months unless you win the lottery calling little dealerships and finding that one magic allocation nobody else did and they're willing to sell at MSRP. MM and Ciocca are over a year. RHD is also over a year and have added a $13K ADM starting 9/1 if you're not already on their list.

Read the Rick Hedrick's tread. Many if not all of the folks get their C8 within 5-7month. I got mine from them in 4 months.

Ahh .. your definition of MSRP means that there are no DOC fees in addition to the MSRP, or all of them are deducted from MSRP. Then you are right.. In fact there are only 2 dealerships that do that. RH in Duluth GA does have a DOC fee of $799 over MSRP but is still 5-7 months order to delivery.

You didn't read what I wrote. I'll try again. RHD is now a year wait and they now are charging a 13k ADM if you're not already on their list. They used to be much quicker, word spread though and their wait time is now as long as MMs and if you're not already on their list you will pay an extra 13k

I am on MacMulkins list. Deposit 3/31/21, I will be 219 on the list by Monday, getting large allocations again, just a couple more months wait, Be about a 7 month wait,
2nd list with local dealer, 5/10/21 on list, went 2000 9/7,3000 9/9, TPW within 30 daus.. So 5 to 6 month wait....
Just look around you will find an open allocation.

You are right about the wait, all of their 2022 anticipated allocation is on a waiting list. I just called them and confirmed that. The ADM fee of $13K is wrong.. They told me it's just the $799 Doc Fee .. No ADM.
