I think I might be the luckiest person in America right now.

Once the order is accepted by GM (the dealer has an open allocation and you are next in line) you get moved to 3000 status. Then it takes about 4-5 months before you get the car. I had one that went 3000 on 3/23 and it arrived at dealer 8/1. I have another one that went 3000 on 5/19 and it was built 9/1 (should be at dealer in next two weeks). What they were most likely explaining to you is that your car will be ordered in October (when they have their next open allocation) which will move your status to 3000 and begin your 4-5 month wait. Which isn’t too bad 👍🏻

I wouldn't believe that until it happens. That's 7 weeks. A lot of promising there. L

When I placed my order, they entered it into Workbench immediately, gave me an order number, and I was at status 1100. They also generated a buyer's order clearly stating that there would be NO charges above MSRP for the car. it also spelled out their doc fees and temp tag costs. So, in my first conversation with my salesman, I had my order # and and MSRP guarantee in writing.
I can't take credit for knowing to do that. I have never ordered a car before in my life. All of the reading and advice from folks on the forum set me on the correct path for how to place an order...

I think OP Harlequin has now been more than fully warned. He makes it clear he’s no strangers to cars or car enthusiast forums. I say we relax, give him and his cornfield Chevy truck dealer the benefit of the doubt, and cheer him on. Enjoy the fantasy - and wouldn’t it be great if it turns out to be true? That GM is incentivizing small dealers to sell C8s at MSRP to get them into parts of the country that have not seen many/any yet? Let’s enjoy the dream with him!
Harlequin, you have to keep us posted. We need to know whether you get something great or a lump of coal in your stocking.

I hope it works out for you, ask your dealer what event code your order is currently at, you should have an event code of 2000 to confirm that your Vette order has been accepted by the factory and will be built. Also, IMO, a late October delivery date seems highly unlikely.
Good luck!
Event Code Explanations:

I would ask them what their allocation number is for 2022 and what number you are on their list. Being a small Corvette dealership they may only get a few cars for the whole year.

That dealership in Greenville SC Kevin Whitaker gets around 60-70 2021's ALL WERE sold at $20+K . Another dealership in Columbia SC is selling at MSRP ...has around 25 cars /yr... Love Chevy ...but my understanding is all of their 2022 allocation is sold????

Safety Car
Wouldn't be susprised if most of the dealers have sold all of what they are guessing their 22 allocations will be. Maybe the very large dealers have some allocations left if you want to wait 12-18 months. I will agree, the luckiest people are driving around in their C8's.

And…to the OP, I used a local dealer in the Tulsa, OK area. They ordered the car May 4. They offered it to me on May 28. I accepted at MSRP. I received it September 4……4 months from order and only about 3 months from the time I made the deal.

That's great... but seriously, I think you need to reset your Luck-o-Meter. You're buying a car, it's not life-or-death.

Well sir I did get to drive one. A used one a 2020 with 900 miles on it. It was at a Porsche dealer they could of cared less about the car . To them it was nothing but a trade in. I literally was in shorts and a t-shirt and a Chevy hat and they gave me the keys no.problem. salesman rode with me but I still got the test drive.

So some more info, again im only going by what I was told here. They got like 25 c8s for 2021 and there was no one left on their list and they sold all of them . My buddy and I both went down and we are both in first group for 2022. They are gonna find out their allocation this week. IM sixth on list and they are very confident they are gonna get at least that many. we are gonna be contacted next week. ...
