Default Westbound and down from Carlisle - St Louis Arch

After leaving Carlisle and heading west with time spent in BG, the next stop on the drive was St Louis. After Chevrolet finished up the 1953 Corvette production they moved assembly of the iconic car to St Louis for assembly and production starting on December 28, 1953. Production in St Louis continued until July 31, 1981. Had to grab this pic spending the day in St Louis

Unfortunately, the old St Louis assembly plant was torn down many years ago.

There's a very cool bridge over the Mississippi that was part of Route 66 that is fairly close to the Arch. Normally closed to traffic, but can be crossed by foot.

Yes. The Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. It has a peculiar bend in the middle of it and is quite narrow. It is hard to imagine 2 lanes of travel going over it. Definitely worth a side trip for any in the area.

Cool shots! I was at Carlisle with my Dad this year too. Rode motorcycle from STL to OH to hook up with Dad.

Quite the adventure. Hit a semi tread right before the Carlisle exit. Ripped off his splitter (C6 Z06) and managed to put a hole in his radiator. Brother lives by Williamsport and came down... Trailered it back to my other brothers garage. We pulled the radiator the next day (Thur) then had it fixed and we put it back in. Made it to show on Friday.
Was a good show this year. Despite all that,
had a great time!

Excellent photograph. Sharp looking! Did you go up in the Gateway Arch? My Dad and I went up about 1973 in it.

There was a Chevrolet dealer across the street (as I remember) from the GM Corvette Plant.
I stopped in to see what the $ difference would be for the new '76 Stingray on the showroom floor for my '74 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. $6,500.00. I declined. I found a Chevrolet dealer in Nebraska that quoted $4,600.00 $ difference for a new 1977. I BOUGHT!

Busch Stadium, Stan Musial's and Biggies restaurant, Al Baker's restaurant in Clayton. Loved going to St. Louis. Stouffer's Riverfront hotel. Marriott Lambert Field airport.
