Default Advice needed - cannot make it to Museum delivery

Hi, I chose Museum delivery thinking my car will be produced and ready for delivery no later than August and I can do a road trip back to California with my son before he goes off to college.

Well, my car is finally being produced this week but I won't be able to make it to Bowling Green to drive it home this month or next due to work and family obligations. (I had blocked out my July and August by pushing everything into September and October.)

I know this has happened to others in the past and want to know how they were handled before reaching out to Shane at Museum and/or my dealer (MacMulkin.)

FINAL UPDATE (09/19/2021): At Shane's suggestion I contacted Plycar, a sponsor of the Museum and arranged for shipping back home and was quoted a reasonable price. I signed for the car and went through the delivery process at the Museum on 9/13 and flew home that afternoon. Plycar picked up the car on 9/15 at the Museum and it was delivered in the afternoon of 9/18 (only 4 days!) I cannot say enough good things about Shane for putting up with my questions and helping me ship the car back.

I believe that if something arises and you are unable to participate in the museum delivery, then you will have to arrange for transportation from the museum to your location. All the paperwork in regards to purchase and registration is done by the selling dealer, so you will still have to provide the museum with this info so the car can be released to the carrier.

I'm sorry you can't participate. I have done 3 museum deliveries and they have all been great experiences. I hope things change for you so you can make it work.

Probably have to get it shipped home. I believe Shane could hold if for a month, but not two. You can ask him if he could store it.

I'll pick it up and deliver it to your door and you don't have to pay expenses.

A private carrier will have to be arranged. My 07 vert was held about 6 weeks before I could make it up there to get it.

Tough break that you won't be able to take museum delivery. Talk with Shane and see what can be arranged, but be prepared to have the car shipped to you just in case.

I'll take delivery and hold it for you in Dallas, Texas. Will need your proof of insurance and temporary license plates for the trip.

If you can stand another wait, sell it with Museum delivery at a profit and order another one !
I'm sure someone would pay a lot to have a new Vette in two weeks !

Don't think it's possible to sell to another party. He would have to resell it as a used car, as the first owner.

Call Shane at the museum, I'm sure your situation isn't unique to him.

Status update:

Talked to Shane and will sign for the car on Monday (09/13) morning, fly back to California in the afternoon. Shane will help me with the hand-off to Plycar for delivery to my home. Can't say enough great things about Shane!

Mike Furman and Criswell use PlyCar exclusively for their long-distance deliveries. I've yet to read of of a bad experience.
