"Market adjustment "
I'm looking to buy/order my first new corvette in January or February of next year. I went to my local dealership today to ask questions about the ordering process, I was then told that they are putting a 40k market adjustment on all orders. I laughed very hard as I Walked away. So, my long winded question is, are the bigger places like Ciocca doing this as well? I wanted to keep my money local, as we live in a tourist driven economy but it's obvious they think different. Thanks for any responses.

Get on the phone and start calling dealers around you until you find one that is MSRP only and will have an allocation. To date, none of the large dealers, including Ciocca and MacMulkin are charging over MSRP.

You can order locally and put an extra $40,000 into the local economy (well really into the pockets of the owners of the dealerships) or order from one of the big three (I chose MacMulkin) and get one at MSRP "out the door". .. You'll still have to pay local tax and license (as applicable) but even if you put in your deposit NOW--TODAY--- you won't be seeing a car by next winter. ... Some people who put in their deposits last year and got to actually place their order (get and allocation) in April are only now having their cars made. ..
Things may be getting better but expect an 8 delay at MINIMUM.

My local dealer has a 2021 in stock with a $38K mark-up. Just cannot see flushing that much $$ down the toilet to have a C8 now.
Sounds like the best course of action is to get your name on the list of one of the major dealers (selling at MSRP) and you’ll have a C8 in about a year or so.

Welcome to the jungle. Bigger dealers aren't charging a dealer mark-up. Kerbeck (Ciocca), Criswell, Matick, Les Stanford, Coughlin, Hendrick to name a few... And good luck on that time frame.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I've been in touch with Ciocca and am going to put a deposit in tomorrow. I've never ordered a car before so this is all new. Didn't realize it'd be close to a year before I got mine. Oh well, more time to save up for it!!

Don't phone ....you have no record of what was said or agreed to and besides it takes a lot of time..... simply email the dealers in the area that you are willing to buy from.....give them your build and price totals sheet .....or tell them what you want to order..... and ask them for a "OUT THE DOOR" price quote.... that includes all the licenses and fees..... it does not matter what the individual costs are....the only number you need is the total ......
I bought my car for less than MSRP....using this method....don't quibble and don't be afraid to make a insulting offer.....especially in cash and no trade in at the end of the month...

Best of luck with your order. Get things in writing, including the final price. You do not want surprises like some have been receiving when you go to get your car and it is priced much higher than you expected.

Have noticed more dealers deciding to charge a market adjustment on their last arriving 2021 orders and all of their 2022 orders. Not a good trend. Glad we have access to the top 10 dealers.

In no way am I criticizing OP for his question, as everyone has to start from scratch at some point, and this forum is as good a place to start as any. That said, with the level of hyperscrutiny over every possible aspect of C8 acquisition in this crazy market, it’s astonishing when someone comes in asking questions at the most basic level, like “what is market adjustment?”.
OP, welcome aboard. You’re in for a ride!

my friend, everyone has an opinion. If GM didn’t rush to cancel chips abd parts when Covid hit it wouldn’t be so severe. Supply will catch up to demand. If I am wrong it won’t be the first time, or the last time. It hurt me to even pay MSRP. Ordered a S Plaid also at NSRP but that’s how Tesla sells everything. I will flip it for 50k above (no, just kidding)
