Regarding the original question. I was at RF last week, and the fastest time in the autocross was by a 74 year old gentleman who doesn't currently own a C8. So no, I don't think the OP is too old.

They will tell you in class that no one has benefited this year from the optional insurance.

Go, it will be terrific. I went to Bondurant it was good. I think Ron Fellows is better. I am 71 and I plan to make a reservation as soon as I pick up my Vette this month.

Go....and have fun. Weather is getting nice here right now. BTW, if you were an Eagle driver, being too old would never have crossed your mind. LOL

No one may have benefitted through a damage claim, but there are those who pushed their cars harder than they would have otherwise.

I’m going in January. I think it will be fun to learn about the cars handling and get performance tips. I haven’t been back on the track since 1990, so this will be interesting. After I stopped racing motorcycles, bought a shifter cart. Finished fourth in my class in 90, but quit. Figured I quit motorcycles because I didn’t want to go to the hospital any more, but realized I was heading there in the carts. At 77, I need the knowledge in my first corvette.

Pappy: Thanks for the nice reply! I wanted to be an Eagle driver but didn't qualify. I could spell my name, graduated from the 6th grade and my parents were married.

im sure there were more. If I could have, I would have signed up for it, but my eyesight wasn’t good enough and they wanted to put me in JAG. Ended up enslisted in the Army (69-70).

Should I just be grateful that I made it to 79 Years and bag the school?
ED, I'm 85 and can't wait to make my second trip to Spring Mountain.

Driiving your Vette on the track at speed is the most fun gezzers like us can have - with our clothes on.

Just drive at the level your comfortable at.

in a word ... yes. incredible fun, outstanding staff, plus you'll learn much about your new ride and probably yourself. more importantly ... it's one of the building blocks for wonderful memories. do it!

Nope. Not to old. Not at all. The great thing about this course is it’s not just all about racing. It’s really designed as an introduction to your new car, improved driving techniques and then how to combine it all on a course. As other have said, they tailor the groups to ability level and will shuffle people in and out of groups as the sessions progress. I have gone twice and plan to go again sometime this year now that I have my C8. It’s a great time enjoyed by all.

Not at all. As long as you can get in and out of the car without assistance. At least that's what I tell my family and friends about how long I will drive it.

I am scheduled for the 15th and 16th of this month.
A question for those who have recently attended: How are the rooms and the food on site?

Food is good, basic comfort food. Rooms are clean and adequate, nothing fancy. They call them "condos" but they're really Holiday Inn Express sized rooms.

The last time I was there I had one of those buzzy, aging, motel-type, HVAC units that kept me awake, but hopefully I was just unlucky.

My HVAC was a bit too noisy a month ago, too. Food was very good with several choices at each meal.

After I called it in, the maintenance tech brought another "refurbished unit" and replaced it, but it was only marginally quieter. He said it was a common complaint, and that the units are "very tired." However, this was October 2018.

Normally those types of units don't bother me, and I can generally sleep anywhere, but the frequency and volume of this buzzing noise did.

I have been to many of these things. Lamborghini, Dodge Viper, Charger, etc. At your age sure you can do it if you want but don't discount the option of staying home and drinking beer.
