Should I just be grateful that I made it to 79 Years and bag the school?
Do it Ed, I have seen you drive that Red Mist around town, sharp as a tack!

Are there any health conditions that would disqualify you for the C8 Drivers School?

They/Fellows and all in attendance should be honored and grateful for your presence....

You have been driving for about 63 years. The school will teach you about your car and show you a lot of things your driving instructor never thought of when you were a teenager. Basically, you will find out how little you know about actually moving a car down the road. By the way I am a 79 year old HPDE participant and Instructor and I learned things when I went to the C7 school in 2016.

Go for it. Do it now while you are still young. I am also on the down side of the bell shaped curve. Would not stop me

It's a learning event, not a competition. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Years ago….maybe 10 or so my son and I went. This was right before corvette offered this bonus. We paid retail, no discounts, no food, no condos!

Honestly that program was more intense then what you get today. Don’t get me wrong you still push the car but it was much more back then. Anyhow…in our class were 2 very senior citizens, husband and wife! And this was a repeat for them! Let’s just say they could handle the car and age was not a factor.

It’s such a great experience and a deal from gm, go!!!!!!!

Beyond the car experience I find the area, Death Valley Area 51 etc….interesting to visit. Btw the senior couple…..they had lunch at one of the cat houses, described it to us in detail….Interesting folks.

Go for it. If you die while there, what a great story your family will have!! You'll be a legend!!!

just kidding, except for the Go for it part, you can go at your own pace etc. Just be careful of the weather, Nevada heat for an 80 year old could be an issue if you don't stay hydrated.

Go have fun!

Go do it and don't look back. Look at it as a vacation. Just because you never will track yours doesn't mean you can't enjoy a few laps on theirs. You've earned, go get it! 👍🏻

They group like skilled students together so the instructors drive at a pace his students are comfortable with. We had 18 students split up into 3 groups. Some students were in your age bracket and didn’t drive all that fast. Everybody was happy.

I will be 70 sooner than later. I never given age a thought, I mean it’s not a big amount of money. You should go for it. What I’ve been reading it is one of the bucket lists you should have. Don’t hesitate go do it. Then come back on here and tell us about it.

Even if you don't plan on doing any high performance driving, the school is definitely worth the trip and tons of fun. In addition to the track time (you can go as fast as you're comfortable) you get to learn a lot about the car's electronic and mechanical systems. It's a great trip and a bargain for the price.

As an apparent former F-16 pilot, you will be able to handle this one-handed. I bet you were flying something over my head in Viet Nam.

I was 75 when I was there and I'm in the "do it" camp. I was one of the slower ones and not as good as I had thought I would be, but got a real education on the track. Maybe I was too cautious but still had a good time. I drove a C7 stick shift Z06 and found out it was an animal! DO IT!

Go for it! My sister went when she was 79. She is 82 now and still driving a Z06 C7 manual. It's in our blood.
