This is actually my car (wish it wasn’t).

it’s been wild to see the Reddit thread reach 12k upvotes and I really appreciate the support of the community. The dealership has been responsive and, while I won’t get into how they’ve made amends, I am satisfied assuming they keep their word.

I made the video private per the dealership’s request but you can still find the insane freeway race on r/idiotsincars.

The video, which was taken on July 31 and is included with this article, shows the dealership technician push the C8 Corvette up to 148 mph while pursuing a Dodge Charger

Definitely should be standing in the unemployment line, without a job or drivers license.

Surely this “Vette tech” knew about the PDR?

Sounds like he’s about to get stepped down to “Chevy Spark Tech” once the dealership has to cough up free oil changes for life or something;

Video comments section says that dealership made an arrangement with the owner and the video will be taken down today. Don't they know that once on the 'net, it never really goes away lol

We don’t really know that. In this labor market he probably just didn’t get his raise.

So with shenanigans like this not even being an outlandish occurrence - is there a way to force your PDR to always be on to the extent it cannot be disabled without a password or something? Definitely would do this every time I bring the car to any service shop.

when you enable Valet Mode it records all the time. I am told a dealership tech can still disable it with a scan tool, but for idiots like this guy that don't even know they are there, it will record.
