First Oil Change
#21
So, is there really a mileage limit for the first visit? I think they want you to get the engine and trans oil changed at 7500 miles, and so that is when you should do it, but below is what is recorded for my C8 on the Chevrolet Owner Site Warranty Tracker. Note that it must be performed within the first year, but there is no mileage limit.
However, the owners manual says to change the DCT filter at 7500 miles, regardless of time, so if you hit 7500 miles before a year is up you might as well take advantage of the "free" service then.

*The filter is supposed to be change at 7500 miles (pre-paid), then 22,500, then every 22,500 miles thereafter (or every 3 years if the mileage is below that.)

For the mileage most Corvette owners drive, they'll have to change the filter once every 3 years*. If one can't afford to spent $200 every 3 years, one probably couldn't afford to buy a Corvette.

My dealer, American Chevrolet in Muncie IN, is really giving me a hard time regarding GM paying for the first transmission filter change. I asked about this when i brought the car in for it's first oil change and the tech's didn't know anything about even needing to change the filter. I got the engine oil change and then told them what i had found on the forum that this was supposed to be done and paid for by GM. The service manager said he would check. I got an email back today saying ".....according to our conversations with Chevrolet, it is not included with the car. Our service manager, Harold checked with our rep and looked everywhere he could find."
Aside from what has been included above (which i will send to my salesman) does anyone have something authoritative in writing from GM that can help my poor dealer out?

This does not have to be done by the dealer where the car was bought does it. I don't feel like taking it 700 miles to get the service. LOL
