Default How are you mounting your radar detector to Rear view mirror?

With the Blend mount bracket not available what are you guys using to mount your Escort radar detectors to the mirror. The windshield isn't at the right angle to use the suction cup. Will the Blend Mount bracket for the C7 work?

The blendmount is definitely worth the wait.

If you want to save a few bucks here is a referral link.

That metal bracket bends. I use it in my Jag and then my Audi. It'll adjust to the diff angles.

I used velcro to mount my redline 360c to the top of my display. It balances nicely, has a small profile and works very well both front and rear. Allows me to plug into the accessory port under the glove box without stretching the cord and removal when parked is a breeze. Will work for me until there is a better solution.

I wanted a cleaner look and want it out of sight, so I mounted mine behind the mirror. I just made a simple clip and it hangs below the PDR camera.

Amazon Amazon

A = two sided tape with a screw into plastic cover behind mirror, hole is already in the plastic cover.
B= magnetic mount
C= plastic cover behind mirror with hole for screw
Note: I had to drill a hole into the Sancore mount.
Caution: camera is behind the cover.

$19.99

Using the same mount as LJT above, yet off my display. I can't stand things in my window field of view. 8,000 miles and no problems. I did put Gorilla 2 sided tape on the magnetic though.

I have the original Escort Passport Max bought when it first came out in July or August 2013, a month before my C7 Z51 was built. I have been using their "sticky suction mount" for 8 years, on 2 C7's and my C8. The bracket is adjustable and no problem having the detector horizontal. Could even have it pointed up!

IMO far better than mounting under the mirror which blocks some vision. Zero blocking high to the right of the mirror where it has been from 2013.

This is pic of C8 with Blendmount wire kit for the the C7 that works fine. Note I have used a very thin branded stainless fish lure leader as a tether. In 8 years the only time the suction cup has "let lose" is a few times each summer on a 100 F day when I park facing the sun! Then the sticky mount and detector are hanging harmlessly from a very small eye hood on the top window frame! Has never happened when driving.

Another benefits of using the "Sticky" suction mount is the detector can be slipped off in seconds with a locking button on top. If parked for a long time at a large venue (as at the 4 Wide Drag Races at the zMAX Dragway in Charlotte) I remove not just the detector but also the "Sticky Mount." Then there is no evidence there is a detector to temp a person on drugs etc to use a "brick" to enter and look in the glove compartment or under the seat for the detector!

Mounting like this is a compromise. In that position you lose range and 360 degree capabilities. That is a great detector overall, so I am sure it still will be effective.

Have this on my silverado with the same Mirror screen, hasn't budged for 2000 miles

Amazon Amazon

Used this for wiring, taps the connector, easy to find online which colors to utilize. No blown fuses or poor connection.

Amazon Amazon

I've had blend mount on an older car. Slightly nicer quality mount but at 5 to 6 times the price of the above its just not worth it.

I mounted mine above the infotainment screen also. You may lose a little forward range because the RD sits lower. The rear view is impeded but 360 degrees is nowhere close to being lost. And the rear alerts are less important than the front alerts. I drove around with my RD (V1 Gen 1) on the floor for a while and it still went off at a reasonable range.
To me it is a good compromise for not obstructing your view out of the windshield.

Thanks for posting that video. It seems like the toughest part would be the mirror tap. Very elegant design.

If anyone has a video for how to install the mirror tap that would be very helpful. I don't even know how to remove the trim piece, or where to pry. Then there is the question of how and where to insert the wires. Probably I am the only one who is clueless in that area, but it would help me at least to have a better understanding of that.
