Yep I seldom take the Interstate to town with the Vette for several reasons, one being the many 18 wheeler tire treads on the highway and Pick-Up trucks and SUVs, just go over and forces me to change lanes or there goes my splitter! I will also only drive at ~7 over the 70 mph limit. In the section of Interstate to town we have many officers patrolling. In fact we're the only significant size city on I95 in SC. All others are some distance from the Interstate. Good money maker! .In fact there is a ~5 mile section that the speed lime drops to 60 mph, where I20 intersects I95. See many folks driving to FL from "Up North" who are typically traveling well over 80 mph, don't slow down in that section.. Wide grass center area with trees where highway patrol park. I set cruise control, even on the wife's SUV at 67 mph. When someone with out-of-state plates passes at 80+ mph I know that will be a big fine. I just smile and say thanks, keeps my taxes low. Have also seen folks in the left lane going 80+ with their cell phone on top of the steering wheel and thumbs pounding out a useless test message! Scary!

Well, I do not see this thread going as the OP had intended.

Speed by itself is not dangerous, too much speed for the situation is. I grew up in Germany, learned to drive there and drove a lot of Autobahn often at high speeds (legally). The big difference in situations between the German Autobahn and US freeways is that in most US states neither driver education nor vehicle or roadway maintenance are suitable for speeds like that. What does it help you if you are the perfect driver in the perfect car if ahead of you a 1990s minivan on three bald tires and a donut with a dreaming driver loses control and flips right into your car? I like spirited driving when I am alone on the road, but I would never drive here like I do when I am in Germany. The mere thought of going 160 mph on the interstate makes my hair stand on end, not because of my skill set or car, but because of others'.

So because someone pulls up next to you on a public road you need to go 90+? How juvenile.
Years ago a Mustang came up next to me on I84 in NY. I was coming back from Carlisle. He shadowed me for a mile+ on my left. I was in the right lane.
I never looked over and he got frustrated, taking off like the child he was.

When out driving with the other P-Cars, we just keep looking straight ahead and maintain current speed, and the challengers will drive off.
Since Road America is nearby, there's no need to race on the street.

This thread is kinda funny.
The question by the OP is legitimate, and I think could initiate some interesting stories.
For all you pocket attorneys on this thread, telling a story, factual or not, is not even close to admitting guilt. You could have been pulled over for going 120 in a 25, and just because you tell that story does not mean you admit to it.
I personally see many threads on here I think are stupid or contain no worth, but I simply move on with my life and dont badger another forum member over it.
OP, i was pulled over in the C8, but luckily recieved a "warning" as I was very polite, courteous and made sure the officer was at ease the entire event. Also, he was a nice guy and having a good day.
Drive your cars, enjoy them, speed here and there. Just dont be morons about it and weave in traffic, push past your personal limits, or drive after alcohol consumption please.
Good talk 😉😂

Exactly!
And C8 is probably a magnet for attracting some juveniles pulling besides you and wanna race with you. In my limited driving time, I have already encountered this twice.
One time it was a small Honda Civic with a high wing spoiler and some big exhaust pipes, apparently by the owner who did some mods and thinks he got the hottest car. He pulled over on my left side on a local road in West Seattle right before a speed-limiting school zone, and rev up his engine signaling wanted to race. I glance over and saw a teen with his girlfriend in the car. I kept driving slowly at my own pace and just ignored him, and he pulled alongside three times before eventually giving up. Crazy people with some missing brain cells.

Agree, Waze is nothing but a distraction and a waste. Unless some one tells you they have seen something and the location Waze is of no value. Then you need to be glued to it constantly to make sure you have the latest updated info. The maps they provide are abundantly available form other sources. It's like an app for children to play with while in the car on a long trip.
