Is it the covers the Dealerships don't trust you to R&R, adding an oz of fluid, or twisting the cap off/on? From my observations of the posts re dealership/customer on this issue, the relationships are the full spectrum.

In case someone wants to know, my dealer ordered a replacement blue cap late Tuesday. It arrived Thursday. Now gotta schedule a service visit.

Has/Did anyone ever come across the part number for the plastic connector piece between the lift cap and the reservoir? Is it even available separately? Some of us that received a new cap did not have the tether come with it. ?First parts shortage issue?

Had my car serviced two weeks ago and one of the campaigns was to replace it with the blue cap. I, like many here, bought the blue cap and replaced it a long time ago with no connector. They seemed to have replaced it again because the new blue cap has the connector attached to it. I'll check the RO and see if it has any different parts than the one on my old invoice.

Doubt the tether has a separate part #. I watched my tech do the cap install (as is required when billing GM the warranty repair) and both the cap and tether were packaged together.

They claimed they also needed to keep the original black cap to send back to GM.

^^^
Typically they do have to keep an item replaced for XX days as GM will ask for some to be returned for examination etc.

I’m going to put the old black cap back on before I take it in for service. Hopefully the new blue cap they put on will have the tether attached. I’ll keep the blue cap I bought myself as a spare.
