Not interested in the Z06 - who's with me?
It really comes down to cost / benefit for me. I already love the style and performance of the current C8, of which I'm still waiting for mine, and no matter what performance factors the Z06 brings, I just don't see it being worthy of the inevitable price jump that comes along with it.
At 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and someone that is new to Corvette (thank you, mid-engine!) and doesn't plan on tracking it, that's plenty of SPEED for me. Wider-body, new exhaust, ground effects all standard on the Z06? Meh, not worthy of over 100k, which I'm sure the base price will be close to.
Anyone in the same boat?

I had an early deposit and then pulled it to get a Stingray.
Two reasons:
- I think the Z06 will get released as a 2023 MY car at the earliest. Even with an early deposit I was probably looking at Winter 2023-2024. Too long to wait for me.
- If this ends up being a high revving NA/FPC engine, I don't want to be an early adopter. Having owned a GT350 (mine did not have engine issues, but many did), I don't want to worry about the reliability of the motor. Especially on a track day.
- After getting into the PHEV game with two other vehicles, I am excited about the E-Ray more than I am the Z06 right now. Want to see what this model has to offer.
- The base Stingray is already as fast as I really need for the street. I am a novice track driver and the Z06 will be beyond my skill level. With a busy young family track days are getting fewer and further between, and by all indications the Z06 is going to really be more of a purpose built track car than a street car.

Not alone, when I was considering buying a C7, it was the same for me, I didn't need the Z06. Now if they were the same price, that would be different. Honestly, the C8 has enough power and speed for me. I'm likely in the minority in another way, I don't get the fascination with the loud exhaust, and don't plan on tracking. Looking forward to my C8 HTC, 2LT, with front life and mag ride. I had no desire to spend another $5k for Z51, and have no desire to track. For me the car is perfect in every way. Coming from a 2008 MB 280SLK, which we absolutely loved - was a great car! The only regret I would have had was ordering before the HTC came out, the SLK showed me the need for pushing a button to raise and lower, and with the C8 for not losing the trunk space every time you want the top down - not to mention with a HTC I'm likely to take it down every time I drive anywhere (weather permitting), where as with the coup I would have likely had to weigh taking it off for small trips around town.

Like jpeezy, I think the Stingray has "adequate" performance on the street, and like thill444, I'd wait a while before buying the brand new DOHC FPC engine.

I also fear that the Z06 will suffer from over-styling with tacked on aero features that will detract from the lines of the current car. (I actually like the looks of the no-spoiler base model vs my Z-51... ) I realize that I am in the minority on this.

That's my build - no Z51, no spoiler - just a clean 2LT HTC, baby.

While I look forward to the introduction of the Z06 and other variants, a Z51 HTC works for me.

My C8 barely fits in my garage. I can't imagine it being any wider so I'm happy with my C8. If I want it to go faster eventually, there are mods for that.

Agree. The C8 is already 129 mph faster than I can legally drive over the speed limit.
I will not get pulled over by an officer who says “sir, do you realize you were going 142 miles faster than the speed limit?”
194 mph is fast enough for me. It’s adequate. And what appears an apples to apples equipped $25k+ markup over Stingray? Nope.

You're not the only one.
I can't say I'm not interested in a Z06 but I'm honest with myself. My C8 Stingray would get driven more often than a Z06.
While I enjoy spirited driving I also enjoy the comfort of casual cruising. And the Z06 will be more "raw".
My wife would not want to take the C8 as often if it were less comfortable.
If a could afford a stable of cars then a Z06 would be one of them.
But I'm not Jay Leno and have to choose wisely.

I've seen OPs like this prior to Z06 intro in both C6 and C7 gens. In fact, I might have even said it myself when I purchased a 1st MY C6 Z51. About a year later, I order a Z06.
