Am I interested in the C8 Z06 - sure, always curious what the next evolution of a model will bring. Would I buy one - no, for several reasons. The price of admission is just more than I am willing to pay and the need for a car with more capabilities than a base C8 is just not there for me. For those that will get a Z06, enjoy what should be an awesome car.

Grand Sport is where it's at, apparently. I know the numbers are still greater for the base model, but that's due to price point.

Have we heard when the Grand Sport Stingray is coming, and which dealers have deal jackets started to take your money, I mean, hold....

Like always, a goodly number of disparaging and/or nasty comments.

Inability by some to simply and intelligently voice another opinion. Nothing changes. Good old human nature. It never fails. Leave a photo of some aspect of what you are trying to sell and they'll come after you as if you were trying to cheat them.

Such a shame for something that's supposed to be a hobby.

"It's only 495HP." Yeah, hardly anything compared
to the output of the sun.

May be the only car I buy the extended warranty, but its part of the price of admission.

First time Corvette buyer and 65 years old! I could not handle the performance of a Z06. Just a basic, no-frills Stingray looks like a lot of fun for this old man.

First I had a C6 with the LS2 engine. Then I had a C6 with the LS7 engine. Finally, I had a C7 ZO6.
The C6 with LS2 was an awesome car. Basically my dream car at the time.
The LS7 was probably the best sounding engine I have ever heard. And the performance was fantastic.
The C7 ZO6 power was just way over the top. In most situations, I could not even use that much power. I will say, however, it was more fun than a barrel of monkeys. It put a very wide smile on my face every time I drove it.
If I buy a C8, I'm pretty sure it will be the base model to begin with because I buy them used. Then I will see what the C8 looks like, sounds like, and how it drives. I might end up with one someday.

However...buying a used C8 will cost as much or more than buying new. At least for the foreseeable future. And I love my LS376-495 (525HP).

You may be right, but I usually pay about half of msrp. Just wait until supply catches up with demand.

The regular car on the street feels like a thoroughbred at a petting zoo. If you aren't planning on tracking the Z06 version, it would seem like a waste to me.

So when will my car have a retail value of $31,650? I'm guessing it may be a while. They're asking that much for 15 year old Corvettes.

Nope, not interested. The main reason? The rumor of a FPC. I bought a C8 because I think it’s the most aggressive design out there (the most compliments that I get are that it looks “mean”) and the rumble of a high performance Chevy SB. I didn’t want a sleek Ferrari “wanna be”. A GM should sound like a GM, a Harley should sound like a Harley and a Coke should taste like a Coke. Made in America and proud of it.

Now, if GM were to stuff a Chevy BB mountain motor in a Z06, I might be interested.

I'm afraid I am not very good at predicting the future.
However, supply will catch up with demand. And when it does, Chevy will be offering discounts on the base models. I have seen $5,000 to $10,000 discounts in the past. I'm sure you can figure out what that does to used car prices after they are 5 years old.
These cars depreciate, and don't be deceived by the current situation. It will not last.

You don't predict the future, yet you say the current situation will not last. The C8 is a game changer. I would not be so quick to make any statement regarding the future concerning the C8.

The blinders on former Corvette owners are fairly large too. GM kept the spelling of the name the same that's it. Using the old front engine cars as your guide is relatively foolish. Two out of three C8 buyers have never owned a Chevy before, just think about that. I understand that all mass produced car depreciate, but they had run their course in 66 years, it was out of gas.

What most don't grasp is the normal turn for new vehicles is 16-18 million a year. When you have plants closing for months at a time and chip shortages, etc., it leaves a huge hole in the market that can't be filled, leading to a huge shortage of vehicles. All used car prices are just stupid right now because of lack of availability and demand. This isn't going to fill in over the next few months or even the next year, there's simply no reason for it to.

I'll go you one better. I am not interested in a Z06 and not really sure about a C8 in general. The C7 was so much nicer in styling. Those awful side air scoops and oversized rear end on the C8 (compared to the rest of the car) have not endeared themselves to me. I can't say that I will never own one but I am in no hurry and certainly won't pay msrp or above. I can already hear the heads exploding. haha
