"Rain Trays" for rear engine vents?
I'm asking for my buddy who just purchased a 2021 C8 Z51 3LT. We noticed a slight possible design issue with the engine bay and the two vents that run vertically along the sides of the rear window. If it was left out in a rain, or during a routine car wash, water would definitely get inside the engine bay and drip over that great looking exposed engine. I would hope that Chevy has/will design a removable "rain tray" to slip under these vents. Is something like this already available or in the works, or it hasn't proven to be a problem?

Why do you guys worry about this. The venting was obviously designed to take rain into consideration so what's the problem?

There are drains in the left and right trim pieces under the hatch. People were asking Josh about it at the NCM showing in 2019 when I was there. It's not a problem, unless you're trying to keep the engine spotless.

Honestly, this is like saying we noticed this morning that the sun comes up in the east. This has been beat to death for a year and a half. Throw a towel over the engine to wash it (engine cool) or use 4" painters tape. If you drive in the rain some water will get in because getting air flow out of the compartment is far more important than some water landing on a sealed engine with weather pack connectors.

Nothing wrong with water coming into the engine bay unless you worry about having to clean it up to look nice and shiny. It won't harm anything. If you want it clean when you wash the car throw a beach towel over the vents so water doesn't get into the bay.

I hear you, mine is a weekend fun car so it doesn't get driven in the rain (not because I think it will melt, because I don't want to put the time into detailing it after). I use the towel over the engine when washing and it works perfectly.

Holy jeeze, some people I don't understand....it's a car not a 15th century priceless work of art, what's next, shoes for the tires so the tread doesn't get scuffed?

As I logged into the Forum today I was wondering if there would be any Sir Mix-a-Lot references. Thankfully you obliged! I think I posted a similar response last year when someone posted a "36-24-36... only if she's 5'-3" reference. Good times.

Whenever my C8 arrives, or if I got measurements from someone, I plan on 3D printing "louvers" out of carbon fiber filament just for those vent holes. Shouldn't impede airflow but will prevent most all water from getting in. I realize the area is designed to handle it but I really don't want to think what will happen to exposed internals with prolonged direct water exposure especially in a rainy area like where I live.
