I wasn’t a Chevy guy and didn’t realize torch red was going to be so orange. I wrapped my TR in a purer red. I do think LBR and the Red Mist look really nice. Just not for me to own. Solely based on OPs pic I’d go Red Mist. The wheels coupled with too much TR all over kill the TR for me. I wish Chevy made a paint like my wrap but I understand TR is a classic color.
I was torn on these same two colors for months. I like that Torch looks red even in the shade, but I just can’t my eyes off of photos of Red Mist in direct sunlight.
Sometimes Torch looks kinda orange when next to Red Mist though. For some reason I don’t like black wheels on Torch like I do Red Mist and I don’t like to standard wheels on either color.
I like adrenaline red interiors and they look much better with Torch
Metallic paint tends to hide paint imperfections better, so there’s that.
Torch is $1000 cheaper.
In the end I went with Red Mist cause I’m a sucker for metallics.
Torch red for me, and if I were buying another one, it would be torch red, best looking color on the C8. Of course it is truly enhanced with "Chrome" trident wheels. In my opinion!
I've seen both side by side in person in the sun.
Red Mist really pops and sparkles, draws alot of attention and shows a bit of orange to my eyes.
Our current Shark Gray has the same effects and it still gets lots of compliments from people.
Torch Red has it's own more subtle glow and shows a bit or orange in the sun also.
When not in the sun, Red Mist loses it's pop and appears more sedate, while the Torch Red stays more sporty looking, and keeps that "little red Corvette" vibe in my opinion.
Both are good colors on the C8.
That said we are on the 2022 waiting list for a classic, timeless, Torch Red with bright red calipers, black wheels, mirrors, spoiler and interior.
I thought I’d be a big fan of red mist over TR until a recent trip to Kerbecks to see both side by side in bright sun. They both look great but to me the RM metallic downplays the look of the C8 as a sports car. Too many Mazda sedans/SUVs out there that look very much the same. TR is my vote as I like non-metallics just a little more. Saving $1k helps as well. My C8 is AW because I never buy from the same color family twice in a row, otherwise it would have been TR for me.
Torch red is my choice of the two. Red mist is the new “old man tan”. It’s a nice color but is too candy apple red for my taste on the c8, too hot rod.
