I Do NOT See Large 2022 C8 Price Hike..Here's Why..

Don’t forget that GM wisely just added a $1000 increase to the end of the 2021 MY to soften the impact of the $2500 to $5000 increase for 2022 MY. They want us to forget the $1000 they just added when new pricing comes out in July or August. A $2500 2022 increase is really a $3500 increase.

In the beginning, everybody is hyped about the C8 and buyers are adding all sorts of options that increase the price they choose to pay. GM isn't forcing them to do so (other than lack of a rear view mirror camera on the LT1 coupe given the rear visibility out of a mid-engine car). After the hype goes down, I predict more people will start buying C8 Stingrays that are less optioned up, and thus less expensive. Many buyers with the money for all of the extra bells and whistles may opt for higher performance models, such as the Z06, ZR1, etc.
In my opinion, the C8 offers so much more than the C7 that it is worth every penny of the extra money GM is charging, e.g., mid-engine layout, significantly improved interior, increased overall*** performance (C8 Stingray vs. C7 Stingray), etc. The C8 is an evolutionary change for the Corvette, so direct comparison to the C7 is not strait forward. Still, in my humble opinion, the C8 is a better overall value than the C7.
Supply and demand. The demand for the C8 is far outstripping supply. Basic economics dictate the price should go up. GM is a corporation responsible to its shareholders to provide maximum return on investment, and must make careful business decisions to achieve that goal - GM must maximize profitability on the Corvette while not hurting long term sales. GM has done that amazingly well. There are base C8 Stingrays for those who want to keep the price very low, relatively speaking for a mid-engine sports car, and a wide variety of options available for those who want to add those options.
Overall, GM has done a tremendous job with the C8 - they have provided a great product for the car enthusiast community at phenomenal pricing for what the car offers. A few years ago there were rumors the base C8 would be approaching $100k. GM could have priced the base C8 there and still sold large volumes, but they didn't. They really have provided a great service to the car enthusiast community. Like many others, I am grateful GM finally produced an incredible mid-engine sports car at the prices they are charging.
*** The C7 Singray has better skid pad and breaking numbers, but the C8 Singray has more hp, better acceleration, and is faster on the track. The degradation of the breaking distance may be due to the new brake pad compounds designed to comply with some obscure California environmental law. Eventually, if not already, aftermarket brake pads will become available that improve the C8's breaking performance for those that want/need it.

Additionally, if GM follows through with its' commitment to add Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) to virtually all new passenger vehicles in 2022 it will drive the price up.
The upside is that Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) would likely be an option then.

So if you ordered a 2021 recently (after the $1K price increase), and you wanted Z51 and front end lift, your car already cost roughly $2500 more than a 2020 model.

Mary Barra and the team have aggressive goals for profitability. Full stop. They see a 6-12 month backlog of orders (which does them ZERO good right now), so they're harvesting what they can while they can. Better to jack prices NOW when people are lining up and then offer financing/leasing deals later down the line. 10/10 they are raising the MSRP for 2022

You can expect something around $1000 increase.

It's the same story w/ the full size SUVs -- Escalade avg transaction price used to be aroun $79k -- now it's over $100k. Tahoe and Yukon also have dramatic price / avg transaction gains too.

Would not surprise me if the price went up at least $1-1.5K for the 2022 model year. And that would be just the base price - options will probably increase a bit too. I guess still a bargain in the mid-engine sports car world.

Well, I think someone should setup a poll online so we can vote.
$1000
$2000
$3000
$4000
$5000
I'm betting a minimum $2000 base increase and small increase across the board for major options.(lift, exhaust, Mag ride, Z51, wheels) bumping avg car price by $3k on top of mid-year increase we just saw.

I'm afraid your numbers are probably about right. For some of us, that means going w/o an option or two we really wanted.... Cue all the "if a few thousand dollars bothers you, you can't afford the car" comments....

Hey, GM has to pay somehow for valve spring, transmission and porous wheel repairs. Expect $4000 2022 price increase. Then in 2 or 3 more years you will find C8s for $12k to $20k off MSRP just like the C7.

Well, we’re later in year 2, admittedly not “normal” years and there’s no drop off in 3LT demand. The lists I see on MM, anecdotally seems to show an increase in 3LTs if anything, and roughly only 10% or so of 1LTs...AND....
The average sales price is HIGHER, quite substantially in 2021 MY vs. C8 2020 MY...BEFORE the 3/1 price hike. So, perhaps we do revert to that trend you point out and yes it’s very pronounced in previous cycles, but there’s no indication of it so far. Maybe year 3..My money is on HIGHER average price rather than lower. Or maybe it softens in year 4..
Id like to see 2015 average sales prices relative to same period C8 2021...I agree that would be more apples to apples. I think, even inflation adjusted, it would be rather telling....

My 16 3lt z was just under 91k. My 20 2lt base c8 was 71k. Go figure! Dealer told me with the c7 he sold lot of 1lt cars because it checked most of the boxes. Not sure about the c8. Time will tell.

GM made idiots out folks that believe it's under $60,000 that was $5.00 under $60,000$ $59,995 what a crock. Delivery is $1095 so there goes the under $60,000. Under $60,000 to make a real argument should be $300-$500 under $60,000.
