20"-21" Wheel Setups - Ride quality?
I'm interested in hearing from people with 20"-21" wheel setups and their experience with ride quality. Did you drive your car with the stock 19-20 setup prior to replacing your wheels and tires? If so, did you notice a distinct difference in ride quality after the change? How harsh is your setup on rough roads?
My 2LT/Z51 car is due to arrive in late May. I'm definitely replacing the wheels, but I'm torn between sticking with the 19-20 setup and OEM tires vs going to a 20-21. Sticking with the 19-20 setup would be cheaper and (may?) offer a slightly better ride quality. From an appearance stand point, I think the 20-21 setups look better, but I'm concerned about ride quality/comfort as well as durability (i.e., potential damage from pot holes, etc.). I live in Michigan and do not plan to drive the car in the winter, but as many of you are aware roads in the Detroit metro area are pretty terrible and I don't want to regret my purchase. Also part of my consideration is that there's 1100 feet of gravel between my house and my nearest paved road.
Appreciate any insights or suggestions you have. Thanks

I dont have my car yet, I wanted 20/21 set up for looks ,,, but losing ride flats was not a option without having a spare tire. I purchased 19/20 MRR F10's and I am glad I did ... just my opinion !!

Nice to hear this, as I have ordered 20/21s before my TPW is known should be end of May. Do you have mag ride, perhaps that makes a difference in ride quality. You setup looks stunning! I presume you are on factory ride height, or lowered?

Thanks... mine is a 1lt Z51 without mag ride. It rides fantastic. I did not lower it because it already takes careful driving to avoid scraping the front on curbs and entering into driveways.

I added 20/21 to my 21 Black HTC and I did drive it some before I changed to the new wheels. I drove the car for about one (1) hour yesterday and didn't know any difference in this incredible car (See my post below).

No distinct change. Car has mag ride though.
I lowered my car on the stock wheels and tires
Switched to 20/21 and the change wasn't noticable
Still rides relatively smooth in tour mode
Can feel every bump in sport/track mode. As you should.

I agree that lowered on 20/21 is a great look, but I decided to stay with the 19/20. Most people would never know it unless they really know what they're looking for. I haven't heard anyone say they noticed a difference just changing the wheel size, but it has to change the ride and handling when you lower them that way that most people do, compressing the springs. With that being said, I am not speaking from experience.

All else being equal, ever decreasing sidewall cannot possibly help ride.

Mine is lowered and running 20/21 fully forged wheels. No noticeable loss in ride quality, but I prefer track setting for my driving. Maybe feels a little slower off the line than with my fully forged 19/20 setup. Biggest downside is the additional care you have to take in any adverse road conditions. I keep both setups but I haven’t gone back to the 19/20s since putting on the 20/21s.

The C8 with magnetic ride is SOOO soft and compliant... even in track mode... that a bit of stiffness from a larger wheel won't be a bad thing. I drive my car in track mode 100% of the time for two reasons... it's too quiet otherwise and the suspension is too soft otherwise. I like my sports cars to feel and sound like sports cars. In touring mode, the C8 feels like driving a BMW 3 series in terms of ride comfort

Do you mind looking up your tire size.... is it 255/30/20 Front and 325/25/21 Rear?
Thanks
