Poll: Great Wall of Buttons ?

I chose "neutral", simply because I don't have enough time in the vehicle to have formed an opinion on their functionality. From a purely aesthetic view, I'm not in love with the design, as it reminds me too much of the C4 "star wars" design of the 80's, which I thought was "cool" then, but today feels (and is) completely outdated. Although, to be fair, in another 15 years or so, any vehicle without the digital displays is going to likely evoke the same "outdated" reaction. Like others, I am a fan of physical buttons so I can feel rather than look in order to accomplish the desired function. If they actually do redesign the center stack, I'd like to see them do something really crazy, like put the passenger functions in the door area by the window switches, and then lower the upper part of the wall and reduce the long line of the switches. Or, as others have mentioned, at least a dual row for driver/passenger functions, down low and flat. To me, that would make them available to the passenger too.
But, I'm sure i'll be a very happy camper with the design as it exists today. I figure by the time it feels outdated, I won't have to worry about it...

that begs another question. Have you ever sat in the passenger seat? I’ve owned the car a month now and never have.

All it needs is to be lowered about 2 inches, you would have the same basic look without it looking like the Mexican border wall.

For the record, I do understand the desire for certain physical buttons.

Lots of things to control. Lets the passenger play with their side! Frankly 98+% of the time I'm the only person in the car and like my two C7's seldom touch temp etc, it's set on sync. The seat heat/cooling control would be nicer on the steering like the steering wheel heat. If they go to an all torch screen control hope those functions have button s on the wheel. Love Z-Mode there as that is where I drive 95% of the time.

It’s a bad design in my view. The problem begins with the infotainment screen’s poor accessibility to the passenger. Then comes the divider to thwart any sense of intimacy between driver and passenger. It’s also intrusive to the passenger’s space while affording no means of gripping it for stabilization.
To me, “driver centric” means the driver can focus on driving while the passenger fusses with the infotainment. It also means the driver can enjoy oral pleasure from time to time, yet the Great Wall forbids it.
None of this is to say it’s a dealbreaker or that I hate it, though I’ll bet the engineers who rode shotgun on the ‘Ring had some choice words about the lack of grab handles!

I don’t have my car yet but I am a big fan of buttons over touch screen. You have to be very accurate with the vertical screen, which is bouncing constantly but with the buttons you can hover, touch and glance for confirmation before actuating the control. It’s much easier. I like the wall because it makes it harder for my fat wife to punch me.

I’m in for touch screen. IMO buttons are going away and infotainment center touch screen. The screen can be enlarged and center console flattened. Touch screen can be multiple panes like in my daughter’s Tesla and everything is right there! Bigger screen also means better play back videos. Flattened center console opens up room for a manual “dear I say” 😆

IMO, the interior design is a fail between the driver and passenger tubs, the button wall, and the 1960 Plymouth Fury steering wheel. GM should have copied 911 or Cayman designs.

I voted hate it, but thats a pretty strong word for it. I would be happy if they were flat, I don't care about being in a long strip. I'd also like the screen moved over to center between the driver and passenger. Ideally they could have made it swing/tilt to face whoever is using it instead of just assuming its always the driver.

I've both ridden in the passenger seat of another owner's C8, and driven that car before I ordered mine. I also sat in the passenger seat of the C8s they had on display at Carlisle and the NCM anniversary in 2019.

Uggh. Porches have about the most boring interiors going. And display less information to the driver unless you switch between multiple display modes repeatedly. Terrible desings.
