How many times have you needed one in the past? I'm in my 8th decade and I can honestly answer with, "never," And, that's certainly not because I've driven on great roads or in high-rise trucks all that time. That said, there is more to it than roads. Do you particularly like flying over curbs and speed-bumps, perhaps? Heads-up and a little care go a long way in protecting whatever you drive and yourself (check the Tiger Woods wreck today). Can you avoid all risky issues, of course not. Such is life. Enjoy whatever you finally opt for and all the best.

It might be the ultimate, you don't need, but will be glad you have it. I debated, but got the lift and honestly the piece of mind is worth it even if you don't use it but once in a while. Having it remember and auto raise on spots you pick is awesome. Worst case it's a good party trick. The cost isn't going to change if you can afford the car or not.

Depends on if your driveway or places you frequent have high curbs or bad inclines. I've never found an issue in my C7 as long as you approach at an angle but for the piece of mind I'd say its worth it. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

Places my c7 always scraped like the three speed bumps I have to negotiate but don’t affect the c8 at all. No lift here no problem. Another steep driveway I always scraped also no problem
1900 I can spend on washing my car

I agree with anyone saying it's not so much for rough roads, it's not. If you need front lift to go down a street, you need to buy a Yukon.
However, I totally disagree with those not realizing that there are areas that absolutely require front lift, saying that it is a complete waste of money. I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and you cannot drive the C8 through certain intersections without it. Forget driveways, which are even worse in this area.

I actually scraped WITH the front lift actuated - it'd have been worse if I didn't have it. I'm at stock height. Some of these driveway transitions into businesses are ridiculous.

I'd add that your habit of parking the car may have something to do with the decision.... in addition to speed bumps and sloped road intersections, there's another bottom-scraping hazard: parking spot stoppers.
My habit of parking the car is often drive to the stopper as close as I can so I don't leave the tail end of my vehicle sticking out in parking lot, and the other day when I was just parking my C8 in front of a grocery store - it's totally flat and leveled ground, and heard this sound of thump! - my front bottom hit the concrete parking stopper on the ground, because I have the Z51 splitter in the front. Z51 is even lower than the non-Z51 C8s with the that splitter on, and it will hit most of the parking stoppers if you drive too close to the stopper.
But now with the lift feature, I saved the GPS position of that parking, and the car will automatically lift itself to avoid hitting it when I drive into same parking area of that grocery store again. Very cool feature and worth every penny!

R.I. as in Rhode Island? Good roads?? If so, your definition of "good roads" differs from mine. I swear the roads in and around Newport are going to break my truck every time I'm on them...

Don’t get it.
1. You lose height adjustment on front suspension.
2. It’s only necessary for steep driveways or lot entrances.
3. It leaks brake fluid all over. Do a search, there’s a long thread about the faulty fluid reservoir that leaks. Also, it uses brake fluid yet is openly vented to the atmosphere, so that hygroscopic brake fluid will absorb water and eventually cause problems.
It’s in a concealed place where most C8 owners wouldn’t have noticed it yet.

I’m not getting because I’m not getting Z51. The base car has a better approach angle. What am I missing? The approach angle on the non Z51 base is 11.8 degrees, the approach angle with Z51 and E60 is 11.1 degrees.

Be careful on speed bumps and driveways and spend the money on something else.
I won’t have a splitter on my car, so there is nothing to damage. Since it is a car, I don’t care if I hear a small scraping noise. It won’t hurt anything.
