Default [PICS] Silver Flare vs Ceramic Matrix Gray

I would have loved to have done a Silver Flare vs Blade Silver post, but I don't have a Blade Silver! And, of course, it a cloudy winter day but I though the pictures of the new silver next to Ceramic Matrix would at least give you SOME idea of the new color.

Enjoy the pics!

And here's a few of Silver Flare by itself...

Doesn't look very 'silver' to me...but it does remind me of the pewter color that was on the C5 (forget the name).

Silver Flare seems to look different in pictures depending on the lighting. In these pictures it looks almost exactly the same as Blade Silver. In pictures on other posts, it looks almost like Carlisle Blue and in others it looks almost like a pearlescent white and yet in others, similar to Ceramic Matrix Gray. "Specular" is the word for this type of color. I think I like it, but still want to see it in person.

It was called Light Pewter Metallic!

This color is silver, but the tint has a little pewter in it so it depends on the angle you are looking at.

I like the CMGM better - but then, I am obviously biased!

I'm still hoping that Corvette eventually adds a richer deeper silver like Atomic Silver that Lexus offers or the silver shown in this pic.

Yours has the right color compliment to CMG, light blue IMHO.

Both of these colors looks awesome in sunlight. I'm going to change my original CMG order because I live in NE where sunshine can sometimes be at a premium lol. In sunshine-- I LOVE the silver and CMG. Overcast? Arctic White looks much better. It really has to do with the sun which does WONDERS to several C8 colors. Look at them side by side overcast/cloudy versus sunny. Very different looks

Silver Flare is certainly very nice, and if I'd order a 2021 model thinking silver, I'd certainly get the SF color without any regret. However, I personally like the 2020 model Blade Silver better, because Silver Flare has this chameleon alike character of changing color reflections depending on the light condition, and often has this yellow-ish cast, as shown in the photos above, I prefer BS over SF, and if GM offers both in the same model year, I'd choose BS based on what I have seen so far, for a more neutral and consistent color tone. Maybe when I seeing the SF in person, I'll like it more.

Another color that is hard to capture on a digital image, and really needs to be seen in person. But I'm happy I chose Red Mist.

Well I think it's a light year better looking than the old Blade Silver, which wasn't bad. It isn't as dark as my 99 C5's Pewter, which incidently I bought from Kerbeck's, but it does have the subtle Gold and Blue highlights with different lighting conditions. I had hoped that it was a shade darker than the Blade Silver after seeing the samples next to each other. But, it's in the top 3 of my C8's color choices and until I see one in person I won't be sure which color to finalize my choice. I have been told that my car most likely won't show up until December. Here's some pictures of Pewter and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Silver wheels on SF are a must, black wheels don’t do it, imo.

C8 was dropped off at 7 AM this morning.

Photos don’t do silver flare metallic justice. It’s one of those colors that has to be seen in person. So glad I made the switch from ceramic matrix gray metallic to silver flare when the order was re-entered for 2021.
