Default Solved The Flooded Front Shock Tower issue

No need to spend tons of money on stupid products. I installed weather stripping on the battery access panel and it totally eliminated the water intrusion 100%. Simply apply sponge rubber weather stripping to both the car and the panel and it’s done. See photos. It’s the same type of weather strip GM uses on the other side of the panel and the rear hatch. I had my detail shop flood the area under pressure and not a drop came in to the towers. Cost under $5

Why not just stuff it with a black towel? That seems to work for everything.

For those that have sent me PMs, The weather stripping goes on the under side edge of the battery cover panel that goes closest to the windshield side carefully going around the front of the push clips. I also installed a secondary strip on the plastic edging the panel sits on just below the windshield for extra protection. The photos I posted are the only ones I have right now. Carefully look at each photo for placement of the weather strip.

Grease that was meant for a temporary fix to keep the bolts from rusting because the cells were filling with water.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just buy the plastic covers for $55?

No because you’re not fixing the water issue. You could do both however but it’s really not necessary once you plug the leak.

@Hillslam You can find it at Lowes, Home Depot, Ace Hwd, etc. It's basically weather striping for windows. Has adhesive on one side. Comes in different widths and thicknesses.

Good, simple and inexpensive way to keep water out of that area. Thanks for posting your solution.

Thanks for the great idea and post. This is a really good solution. My 2021 came with water in the shock towers. Thanks again!

Too bad that's not where the water comes in from.

The holes are fine and wont be blocked however the water from them will be redirected by the seals and out of the shock tower cells.

It looks like holes are blocked by weatherstripping. You can see the indentations from holes I last pic in first post #1.

No that marking is coming from the underside of the battery cover panel. The battery cover lays on top of that weather strip.
