New vendor introduction- AOR strut covers
So I wanted to take this opportunity to reintroduce myself. I’m not a new member here (formerly Olsen185), but I am a new “Supporting Vendor”. Like many of you I saw the C8 introduction and knew I had to buy one. I immediately placed my deposit and joined here to read and learn as much as possible about the new Corvette. After 13 months of waiting my car finally arrived. Thanks to this forum I learned a ton about my new car, it was also on these forums where I learned about an issue with water in the front strut towers. After reading about it here I checked my car and sure enough my strut towers were full of water and the strut hardware was already starting to rust.
I got busy designing a simple cover to prevent the water from entering the strut towers. I own a small business making small plastic parts, mostly Jeep related, so I have the equipment needed and experience working with ABS plastic. After posting up my covers I had a lot of interest from other members wanting to buy a set of covers. I wasn’t sure how popular these covers would be but over the past few weeks I’ve spent night and day making these covers to keep up with the demand. I really appreciate all of the forum support!
If you aren’t familiar with the issue here is a link to a thread with a lot of information-
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ck-towers.html. There are also a few YouTube videos on the topic-
,
So now that I am an official vendor I would like welcome everyone to check out our Facebook page- https://m.facebook.com/pages/categor...3554984961625/ Time to time we do giveaways so it’s worth checking out. We also created a website solely for the covers, www.C8StrutCovers.com (it’s a work in progress).
Couple frequently asked questions:
Does this affect the HTC and coupe versions?
-Yes the cowl under the windshield is the same.
Are the 2021 models also affected?
-Not sure at this point. The rumor is that the issue is being addressed by GM, but some of the early owners claim it is still an issue.
Is this really an issue if the strut tower is aluminum?
-Yes, the towers are cast aluminum but the strut hardware is steel and rusts.
Why isn’t the cover sealed to the tower, won’t water get in?
-There is no need for any type of gasket. Any water will roll off the edge, which has an approximate 8mm lip.
Is there any difference between the covers you sell on eBay, C8StrutCovers.com or c8.AngryOffroad.com?
-No, they are all the same thing. The covers on eBay are slightly more expensive due to the added fees.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for supporting the forum. Also, from the reviews, seems like a great product, and the first thing I plan to add once I get my C8.

Have mine installed. Look great, water retention issues or not.

I installed mine last night with some slight modifications. The cover rests on top of the casting nubs that stick up and to assure no rattles I put some 3M two sided tape on the bottom slightly in from the edge. Now I haven't heard of anyone saying they rattle, but for the extra 5 minutes it took me it seemed like easy insurance. I also drilled a 1/4 hole near the back of the drivers cover for the harness fitting to go into. Before someone blows a gasket and says why would you put a hole in a cover that is there to keep water out, please understand the following facts. The hole is the same diameter as the post going into it, it is well up under the cowl and no water can drip down from there, the tower is sloped downhill quite a bit, and the harness fitting has a concave base that fits tight against the cover. Absolute worst case is maybe one drop of water if you sprayed a hose at it. On the plus side it also helps to secure the cover.
Since the 2021 C8 has the holes blocked off in the cowl, proving they aren't needed, I filled mine in with Ultra Black from Permatex. They came out flush and now water can't even drip onto the passenger side cover. The covers are VERY nice and well worth the $. Thanks to AOR!

solid move to the front by addressing a need. Good for you, hope they are needed for the entire run of C8 and you make a million.

Mine is a 20. If I had a 21, I would still buy these covers as a very affordable preventative step. Cheaper than one dinner out.

Thank you! Im actually using this opportunity to show my teenage boys the different aspects of running a small business. (At least when I can pry them away from their computers)

USPS used to be so solid. 1-3 day priority service for about $8, now they are really screwing up. Unfortunately UPS is almost twice the shipping cost. Really hope USPS gets their act together soon. Thank you for the purchase

It’s been a real nightmare lately, and I feel real bad for people that bought the covers and had to wait weeks instead of days. Super frustrating for everyone involved. For the most part though people have been understanding as we really have no control after we ship it out.
