Hood Designs
Does anyone know of any companies possibly creating after market hoods for the C8? Some mid engine cars seem to have vented hoods or even an aftermarket option. Several mid engine manufacturers have this look/ function so it shouldn’t be considered a direct mimic. I feel it would look nice to add that extra look. Thoughts?

^ Not like I asked about vertical doors.

Tough crowd. Lol. I assume so. I’m just simply applying about a stylish hood to add and complement the front end of the car. Just as the pics above show. No difference than some that added front splitter, side splitters, and high wing. Just another additional piece. Obviously nothing ragged. It might not flow with this car. Just curious. Not sure why many wouldn’t like it. Something simple even as a Porsche GT2RS hood.

You should have asked about engine accent lights/painted engine covers...

That’s already being over done and played out. Didn’t know so many people dislike all the major high end car looks. This can be done tastefully. What’s the real issue? Just curious.

I think it’s a little early in production, but you will eventually see some aftermarket hoods for the C8. Will you see any exotic clone components? Time will tell. This is a new animal. While we still have a lot of Corvette purists, the C8 has also grabbed a piece of a younger crowd. The demand may dictate custom parts like you are looking for. Again, time will tell...

I added side skirts to my C8 for another functional reason as I did to my 2014 C7 and ordered full length carbon fiber side skirts for my 2017 Grand Sport. In our rural area to stop pebbles thrown by the front tires from marking the rocker panels.
Some ME's have a single radiator in the center and the hood vent is functional for removing radiator cooling air. As Tadge said they went with the added cost and complexity of two side rads so they could add storage space for a larger Frunk. Form Follows Function- so the C8 hood looks fine to me!

I’m hoping the Z06 will have the same hood as the C8R, as long as it serves a functional purpose.

Big difference as the side skirt function at high speed is to increase downforce by extending the flat low pressure area under the car. Splitters add front downforce and high wings rear downforce. Functional a well as (for some) esthetic.

Yes even that would be very nice.

The frunks on McLarens lineup are actual aero pieces creating downforce. Porsche has done the same, and unless you feel like fabricating the ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR then holes simply are aesthetic. GMs aero includes its shape, splitter and front inlets. It would be easier to do CANARDS to increase downforce on track, but the would include holes drilled on the fascia. The actual Chinese aftermarket HASNT addressed the C8 at all yet. The other aftermarket suppliers have small order lots for Chinese suppliers for get rich quick schemes. I would wait for entire body mods to enter mass production.

Meh, just get a C8Z when it comes out as it'll likely have a vented hood.
