Compensation , Severe Problems with their C8
Has anyone received any compensation from GM when their Corvette was in the shop for a lenthy amount of time ? Transmission , Dual clutch, Brake issues . etc . Thanks

Surely they would give a loaner car. Our local Chevy dealer gave me a loaner car for warranty work which was a heap of cheap crap. Anyway, I hit a deer at dawn one day in the loaner driving to work and they wanted me to pay for the damages. Not a good experience for me. And they had insurance on the car! I have not taken my cars or trucks to that service department since then.
I own a number of Collision repair facilities and have contracts with 8 different new car franchises and DRP relationship with all the major insurance companies.
I guarantee that when you signed the loaner agreement you acknowledge you would be responsible for any damage.
If the dealership wreaked your car on a test drive would you expect them to pay for repairs ? Of course you would.
Guys like you baffle me with your thought process and again every dealership and rental car company loaner agreements clearly state your on the hook for any damages .
That why they require proof of your insurance.
Dame sure was not the dealership ship fault you hit a deer.
Heck would you expect the dealership to pay for repair if you hit the deer in your own car ??
Common sense is not so common for some on this forum.

When you purchase a new car or new anything one reason you do this is to avoid or lower the percentage of a hassle in your life. So, if your brand new 80,000 auto is in the shop for a long period of time I do thing some type of "kindness" should be given. At the very least a loaner car but better would be some type of discount on future services. If longer than 3 months some type of price adjustment on car insurance and extended warranty are in order.

Why don't you state the events and many of us here who have been compensated by GM over the years for every type of vehicle including corvette, can give you our experiences.

Lemon law. Of course it's likely nobody wants to do it with their C8.

I would insist on a loaner if it was in the shop for more then a few days. Other then that under the warranty they have a reasonable amount of time to fix any issues with the car. If it is so extended you can always pursue a lemon law buyback but the down side of that is it will not be easily replaced and you will either have to pay a premium for a new one or get back in line.

I can't see GM giving any compensation unless it would fall under the Lemon law. Just look at the C7s with all the cracked wheels. There is clearly a defect in those wheels and GM rarely compensates anyone. If I owned a 2020 I would be a little worried that the the 2020 Corvette will be stigmatized like the 1984 Corvette was. The 84 Corvette was very popular and in demand at first but also known for having all kinds of problems shortly after it came out. Once the 85s came out, everybody was saying not to buy an 84, they would say get an 85. The 85s were said to be nearly problem free.I don't remember if it affected the value on the 84s much but once there was an ample supply of 85s, im sure it at least made the 84s a little harder to sell. I could see the same thing happening with the 2020s unless the 2021s are also plagued with problems.

I had an Impala loaner and received a $1000 accessories certificate when my C7 was on a lift for 21 days awaiting parts.

If your making payments on the car and can’t drive it because it’s in the shop you can sometimes get a car payment or two covered. Otherwise you are likely looking at lemon law or buyback, but rarely does anyone come out ahead in that process. You just get to walk away from a headache.

I can't speak about 2020, but I know a little about the past. In the old days (2000-2010) 75%+ of our customers leased their vehicles, and probably 10-15% financed with GMAC. If their cars were stuck in service or otherwise not fully functioning as designed for more than a couple weeks, GM would make a payment or two for them. This was the infancy of GM Accessories so I don't think any certs were given for that, but GM would throw a thousand or so in the form of a loyalty certificate if the customer wanted to dump their turd and buy something new.

I don't think anybody is being rude to the OP... just that this is really a "First World" problem.... just tough to get sympathy.... tolerance levels are being pinched a bit tight these days.... I certainly don't the the question is unreasonable....
However... I also think the responses are generally realistic.... if this were really creating financial hardship, maybe I'd feel justified to press my case to the dealer for some accomodation, but "loss of conjugal rights..." ahhh... may not pass the red face test.
