Good video. Thanks for sharing.

It would be nice to see them run it on R compounds just for kicks.

I remember when Randy Pobst tested the C7ZR1 at the same track and called it more refined. Maybe Jim Mero is right.... :-)

What you get out of this is a suspension and tire change are needed to optimize the Stingray for track. Hate to say it, but the non Z51 with a aftermarket suspension package would be your best bet for a track car. I will bet Mero has a package.

Doesn’t the new PS4 perform as well or better than the old PSS? 7 model years later, 30 more hp, mid-engine, better suspension, etc. and only 3-4/10ths quicker. Not very impressive if you ask me. And as already pointed out, Randy says every new gen is “refined”, which is probably his go to compliment instead of pointing out the lack of significant performance improvements.

I love the video and think the car performed as expected. The fact that it didn't bury the last C7 he tested on that track could be put down to variables such as track temp and ambient air temp that day. Any accurate comparison would have to be done on the same day and the same conditions. Even throughout the day, the conditions change which would favor one car over the other.

How about this.
The C8 with the same hp. Trans. Tires. As the former C7 would be slower.
A loss then right? Not really.
The C7 was the pinnacle of FE RWD refined over decades of development and tech for that platform.
This is chevy's FIRST ME attempt and it's still no matter how you look at it, quicker around. Any track usa than it's former self. (Even though it is a corvette in name only being what it is. But it is the only future so be it).

Yep, GS about 2 secs faster with all of that old tech and cheaper than a C8. I think the Z06 will be the model to get.

Coil over has no impact on the stock setup. A spring is a spring. If the effective rate is the same, it is the same. GS has stiffer rates. GS has much wider tires, that matters. It is a Z06 without all the power, still more of a track setup. Do you have a cite for “faster around any track than the C8”? There are a lot of tracks.
