Help! Have not told wife about new C8-order status 2000
Talked to dealer in Oct 2020 about a C8, they called me early Dec and order placed 12/22/20, now at status 2000. Did not think this process would move so quick, but leads me to a big problem. I have not discussed this with my wife. We retired a year ago, and bought a travel trailer. At that point she told me I have all the vehicles I need for the rest of my life! Several years ago I upgraded a Mustang convertible with an Audi S5 convertible without telling her. At first she was upset, then she rode in the Audi and came to love it much more than the Mustang. But both those cars were used, and I have never spent this much on any vehicle in the past, so I am very frightened to tell her it may soon be here in the next few months. We have the money, but she is ultra conservative and has been saving all her life. Her opinion on cars is they have four wheels and get you from point A to point B, and as long as they keep running you hold on to them for dear life!
Could use some sage advice on how to not become the first homeless person with a C8.

It's too late now, you made your bed, now you gotta live with it. I don't now how long you've been married, but I've been married 51 years, and I'd never make a large purchase without at least pretending she has a input into the final decision. "fess" up, tell her what you've done, and hope for the best.

Welcome to the club guy. I ordered my new C8 the day after they became available. 3 weeks later my wife saw the write ups and ad campaigns, She came to my office and said you collect mid engine cars, you should think about one of those. I said "I'm glad you agree I ordered it 3 weeks ago."
Well, that cost me an extra 45 grand for the new kitchen. So you may as well enjoy it. I'm still laughing myself.

Just tell her you ordered it plan to use it for a few months and sell it for a profit.
IMHO very cowardly not letting her know what you did. I have a friend that does that dumb **** but has a business to hide these 100k car and truck purchases I would never keep a purchase like that from my wife. As I would never accept her doing it to me.
2000 is nothing. If you refuse the car on delivery even they will sell it with zero issue. So in the end you can do the manly thing and let her know and if she is that pissed or feels that betrayed you can back out of it.
You guys are funny sometimes.

This is a very delicate situation. It has to be handle the same way as if you were to have brought home another woman. You have to tell her, don’t be mad, she's for you too!

I was worried when I ordered my Corvette because I didn’t have a place to park it. I started figuring out how to remodel the garage to fit a stacker or a single post lift. She saw me designing the modified trusses and demanded to know what the hell! I said I am going to install a stacker because the Devil made me buy another Corvette and the Lord won’t let me sell the 911. She thought it over for a day or so and came back with “If you stack the cars there will be an earthquake and the top one will fall on my Mini.” Then she said “If you will put a new floor in the basement I will park outside.” I went to Lowe’s the next day. Job done, I’m waiting for my slot.
