Never thought ordering a new C8 at MSRP would be this easy!

Never owned a Corvette and never wanted one until the new C8 came out. After being overwhelmed by all the media hype earlier in the year, decided I must have one in June 2020. Started the inquiry process at local Colorado dealers, needless to say very frustrating! Some wanted deposits to get on their lists, others didn't. Got on some lists that didn't charge and told 1 1/2 to 2 year wait. Nobody at my local dealerships wanted to give me the time of day. Then I found out about the super-dealers and salesmen back east and contacted them. Mostly the same story - give us your deposit kid and hurry up and wait for 1-2 years. In October I called a small dealer in the Midwest that doesn't sell many Corvettes, but had an allocation of about 9 for 2021. Only two people ahead of me on their list. Very helpful, treated me with respect, didn't ask for a deposit until they placed an order. During the next two months they sent me info, a color chart for 2021, and let me know they would be placing my order soon. This morning they called and emailed me that they were ready to place my order. Gave them $1000 down and got the car for msrp and $150 doc fee, that's it! They will let me know where my car is at from now until delivery and order is placed! How many of you have contacted smaller dealers and had this same experience? Am hoping to receive my new C8 HTC within the next 6-12 weeks, still stunned by how fast process is going . . .

To track your order status, email the corvette concierge at: Corvette Concierge <corvetteconcierge@chevrolet.com>
with your name and order number and ask what your order's status is!

So far sounds like your small dealer is working well with you. Hope that trend continues and you end up getting your car in a few months.

My small Corvette dealer told me everything I wanted to hear. Until they sent my deposit check back. I’ll drop in from time to time to see if they got the C8 they promised me. I wish you well.

If it is truly built and delivered as indicated, you are blessed. I hope that is the outcome for you.

On 12/22/20 my small midwest placed the actual order into the GM system. “Change Placed Order” is what it actually says on the printout. They tell me they guess I may see he car as early as the end of April 2021. I bought at MSRP + $150 doc fee and I am spending an extra $500 for a courtesy delivery. Anybody have their guesses as to when I will see the car?

Do you have a order number? Get the order number and call Chevrolet 866-424-3892. They can give more info with order number.

The dealer can place the order but it will sit there until the dealer actually gets an allocation from GM for the order. Based on what the dealer is telling you of April 2021, you order is probably at order status 1100 and will it there until around Feb or March, at which time hopefully your dealer gets an allocation matched to your order and then your order would go to order status 2000. Good luck.

Putting down a deposit to get on the list is pretty common so don't be averse to it. If you truly got an allocation for the next 6 to 12 weeks than you should go buy a lottery ticket with that luck, as the other poster said, 6 to 12 months is more like it with how many people are on lists around the country.

Ordered torch red htc on 12/17/20 and arrived at dealer today, 3/29/21. That is 3 months and 12 days. Theoretically should have come much sooner, but plant was shut down two weeks due to lack of parts, another week because of snow. Finally built 2/25 and it took a month to get to the courtesy dealer because of super slow shipping on GM’s part! So see it is possible to get one fairly quickly with a little luck and calling until you find availability.

Thanks for the attaboy, much appreciated! It is always so sad to see so many people think that there is only one way to skin a cat, convince themselves that their thoughts are gospel, and proceed to criticize anybody with ideas divergent from theirs. You try to offer them an idea that may help them attain their dreams sooner, but they are blind to them. As the old saying goes, people too often see what they want to see, hear what they want to hear, and believe what they want to believe! My hope is that for those that have been waiting patiently forever for a new C8, think outside of the box, investigate and see if you can figure out a quicker solution!
