I was there a few years back and no, I did not tip, it's their job, if they don't like it, get a new job.

Instructor
At the very end of the program, they put a jar on the counter for tips, and then divide it among the instructors. Most folks probably drop $10 or $20 in the jar. Don't know about individual tipping.

I did when I was there. Left some extra for each instructor that went out with us during the owners class.
they all deserved a little extra. Great group.

I was just there last week and the majority of us in the class put in $100 each. Some left a $50 dollar bill. We had six different instructors and they split the tips up amongst all of them. They were very appreciative and did a great job with the class.

Never went but no i wouldn't tip. It's their job.
When i took my MSF course years ago, it was also a 2 day thing. And the 2 instructors were awesome. I didn't tip either of them. No one in my class did either.
They're not serving food or cleaning our houses, why we gotta tip for?

Interesting that folks are saying it's their job and don't tip. Well serving food and cleaning houses is their job and you tip. Barbers and hair dressers are doing their job and you tip them I hope. What the hell is wrong with you? I look at it as a service as a former driving instructor I can tell you they don't get paid enough to do what they do. These guys are great and deserve our appreciation.

I remember our trips to Europe (we went to several countries) they were surprised that we left tips at restaurants and hotels. The manager told us that it's not expected and not customary. Seems like tipping is an American thing.

Its an American thing because service industry jobs are not below minimum wage jobs in Europe.

And that is the one and only reason: Had a great time/experience as well as learned skills good for life
Tipping for good service/time is am expression of gratitude, it isn't mandatory, simply an act of appreciation.
Service folks coming to my/our spread, heating/plumbing/furniture delivery etc get a twenty, always tell 'em to have lunch on me and a genuine thank you.

Service industry jobs you listed are mostly below minimum wage jobs in America, they make the rest of the income through tips. I have never seen driving instructor listed as a minimum wage job.
Its an American thing because service industry jobs are not below minimum wage jobs in Europe.

Exactly.
This is exactly the reason why.
Those guys at ron fellows. They have AMAZING jobs. Drive awesome fast cars all day teaching others and showing the passion. That deserves a tip? The tip is being employed by ron fellows.
And yeah i tip my barber too. 10 bucks tip each time. Because that is a low paying job.
