Actual Owners: Looking Back, which option would you have not selected?
Like many, I am one of the tortured souls who have been waiting for about 16 months. The good news is that I get to finally submit my order to GM next month and will have one of the first 2021's....just in time to park it for the winter
I keep changing my options and was wondering from the folks who have their cars, what option(s) would you have not selected if you could do it again? What options turned out to be of little use or not worth the money? I am not trying to build a cheap-o C8...but it is so hard not having any cars on a lot to really get to inspect and test these options. Carbon Fiber interior? Front end lift? Rocker Extensions? Two-Tone seats? Engine Cover? ....

I'm very curious to hear the answers here as well. Had someone that has owned two C8's over the past few months tell me they ordered Z51 on their first car, and didn't on their second, and didn't miss it, which surprised me. I hadn't even considered not getting Z51 until they said that. They took me for a ride in the non-Z51 vette and it felt great, although I've never been in a C8 with Z51, as that was my first C8 ride.

After reading so many posts, I've decided to forgo the Z51 option and just get the NPP. I'm still on the fence regarding the Mag Ride, as I will never track the car and according to GM, the ride is softer without the mag ride.
That just means I can allocate those funds towards other stuff I probably don't need as well.

I have a Coupe Z51 with 2LT and the GT1 (base seat). I'm at about 1,200 miles now since October. I love the base seat and it is very comfortable. I have had Z51 since my C6. I like the bigger breaks, and the spoiler for the look. I don't track my car though so I don't really need it, however it seemed worth the $5,000 to me. I was going to get the NPP no matter what and it came with the z51. I considered the front lift, but couldn't justify the extra cost. On my C5, C6, & C7 I sometimes would scrape the front plastic dam on certain surfaces. Not the painted part though. Never had any damage. While I have no evidence to back it up the C8 feels like it has more clearance to me. You just have to be careful and mindful while driving or on inclined driveways, etc. I also considered MagRide. My friend tells me I'd love it. I have never driven one with it so I don't know what I am missing. I saved some there too and didn't order that option. I went with 2LT because I drive my Corvette a lot in all sorts of different weather. I enjoy the heated/cooled seats and other options that come with 2LT such as the Heads up display. The PDR is first time for me and that seems pretty cool too. I am not an audio person so didn't need the 14 speakers, but it does sound good and I subscribe to the XM after my trials have ended. I have Torch Red - love it, but I have seen Rapid Blue in person and it is stunning. It would be worth the extra $500 paint fee for that in my opinion. I also considered the seatbelt colors. It wasn't that expensive, but I went with the standard black. For those waiting, it is a fun car and it is worth the wait. No expert here, but happy to try to answer any other questions (if I can). Good luck!

3LT Z51 with pretty much everything but the exterior visual stuff (engine appearance package, high wing, 5vm). I would not change a thing. However I will admit the 2LT is probably the best deal if you are getting the colors you want.

Wish I didn’t purchase the black wheels $995. There are so many better black wheels you can buy for about $1500.

For context, here are the items I go back and forth on:
- Z51
- Magna Ride
- Rocker Extensions
- Engine Appearance Package
- Carbon Fiber interior
- 3LT vs 2LT
- HTC vs Coupe
- GT1 vs GT2 seats
- Factory Engine Cover (Red)
Currently my order in Workbench
- Torch Red Coupe
- 2LT
- Adrenaline Red Interior
- GT2 Seats
- Two-Tone seats
- Spectra Gray Wheels
- Front End Lift
- Bright Red Calipers
- Z51
- Engine Appearance Pkg
- Composite Rockers Extensions
I went through versions of the HTC and almost pulled the trigger, but the coupe won in the end. I also recently pulled the Magnetic ride. I know folks love it, but I really don't need it for what I will use the car for. I have considered the 3LT but for me, just not enough added value to go that route.
To be clear, It is my choice and I am not looking for the forum to make my decisions for me. It's more about the lessons learned by the current owners that interests me. Everyone is going to be different, but I did drop a few things after reading honest opinions on the forum....and added a few!

I live very close to a dealer that sells a lot of them so I have seen a few options. The two-tone seats do look good. I thought about the Engine Cover, but it seemed pricy and I figured you can likely switch that out later if you want. The standard engine cover looks great to me. I will say that when I park the C8 it gets a lot of people looking/leaning to see the engine/take pictures. A red engine cover might lead to more of that. I did not go the 3LT route because I park outside at work sites and the black leather wrap didn't age well in the sun on my C7. The coupe has always been enough open air for me with the removable top.

I ordered a Z51 3LT with MSRC, visible carbon fiber roof, carbon flash painted mirrors/spoiler, Spectra Gray Trident wheels, carbon fiber cluster-surround and console/door switch plates, engine appearance package, NCM delivery, Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic, yellow calipers and Sky Cool Gray interior.
I wouldn't change a thing.

3LT with about every option. I would pass on trident spoke black wheels and go aftermarket if I did it again. Also would have passed on rocker extensions and went aftermarket.
I did pass on the engine cover and bought a custom painted one for American hydrocarbon. Soooo glad I did that.

No regrets on color (Sebring orange), Z51 (the spoiler grows on you / you kinda forget about it) or 3LT...very glad I did the orange belts... They pop. Did not get mag ride... Im sure it's better but for me I am a set and forget person so I wouldnt get the most out of it.
Only real regret... I shouldn't have spent the $995 on the carbon flash wheels, better to have gone with the base stock ones and spent a bit more now on some cool aftermarket wheels. The carbon flash ones are ok... But there are waaaay better options now for a bit more investment.

My order included the GT2 seats which I sat in last year at Daytona. They were very similar to the seats in my ZO6, decent support but still very comfortable.
Recently, I was able to sit in a friends C8 with the comp seats and they were very comfortable and when I order the C8 ZO6, I will go with those.
What you need to take into consideration in my opinion is that the comp seats, as comfortable as they are, do not allow you to move around within their confines very much which may be a fatigue factor if you like to take long trips. My Vette is a secondary vehicle and is used mostly for local fun drives. The farthest I've traveled is to Jacksonville (from the West Palm Beach area), about a 4 hour trip which was fine in my 19 ZO6. The seats in this car are comparable to the GT2 seats in the C8 (IMO).
I had a very early order in for a 2020 C8, but when I realized that with the strike and Covid19 issues, it would be about now that I would have received the vehicle, I cancelled the order and bought the 19 ZO6 instead. I am waiting for the ZO6 version of the C8 to be available. Anyway, I have no driving experience in either the GT2 or Comp seats in the C8, but I really like the glove like fit in the comp seat for me. I didn't order that originally because a number of people on the forum complained that they pinched their hip area too much. This was not an issue for me. I'm 5'10" and 176lbs for an additional data point.
Hopefully, someone here with some extended time in the comp seat can chime in on comfort over distance.

I have a 3LT Z51 with Mag ride and front end lift. Those are the only options I got.
If I had to order a 2021 I would probably not get the front lift for $2K. Not sure it's worth it for me at 1.5K.
I just rarely use it where I live.
I mainly went 3LT to get the two tone blue interior. If I was happy with a color that came with 2LT I would not have went 3LT. But the 3LT definitely has a nice interior.

None but if I had to pick, the CF interior. It isn't much, and you don't look at it while driving.
When you get the car you verify it was installed and then never notice it again, lol

That's a really good point and I agree. I had the CF dash on my C7 and never even noticed it.
