Researching California C8 Build Data
I have been gathering data on C8 Corvettes in California for a few months now and with the Corvette Museum just releasing their 2020 model year data, I thought it would be a good time to bring this up on the forum.
First a little background on why I started collecting the C8 data. My C8 is a Torch Red, 2LT, Z51, with Black Interior, Carbon Flash Painted Mirrors, Black Calipers and Standard Silver Wheels, which would appear to be one of the more popular combos for the 2020 model year. I started wondering how many other 2020 C8s in California would look just like it from the outside and figured I would find many other C8 builds that would look like mine.
My car is a basic build and has no rare options like stripes or any carbon fiber options. To my surprise after gathering over 1100+ C8 build data in California, not one of those cars would look like mine from the outside as you walk around it. I find that really surprising. Of course many C8s are going to be 1 of 1 when all options are considered, however in my case I am just considering the exterior visual aspects of the car….model (2LT/3LT), paint color, std top color, interior color, wheel type/color and caliper color. I ordered the most popular model, 2LT/3LT, got the Z51, which 76% of the C8s came with, got the most ordered color, Torch Red and the most ordered Interior, Black, and other popular options, yet with a sample size of 1100+ cars in California, still no matches.
Needless to say I really started getting into the data and now have started to process it and have found some interesting differences between the NCM build data and the California C8 builds. For instance for all 2020 C8 builds, Accelerate Yellow was ordered more than Zeus Bronze. In California it is the opposite, with ZB ordered 25% more often.
I plan on eventually breaking down the data into even finer granularity than the NCM did. For instance, once I get all the data in and processed we could figure what color California C8s had the highest average price, or lowest, or even something as detailed as what % of 1LT Non Z51 C8s got the high wing spoiler.
If you have read this far, this is where I need your help. If you have ordered and/or bought a 2020 C8 in California please pm me all your build info. I will keep all the data confidential and this database will never be released to the public. I will aggregate the info and may publish some anonymized statistics, but that is all. Also for this study I have included Reno and Vegas C8s in the data. So there you have it.
Thanks for Listening…

I've realized something similar when looking for photos someone else's car that's the same configuration externally to mine. I still haven't found one yet, as there's always one part of the combination that's different. I ordered a Sebring Orange with red calipers, and that's much less common than black calipers on orange. I'm in SoCal (LA area)
My C8 is a coupe, 2LT, Sebring Orange, Z51 with MRC and front lift, body colored roof, carbon flash mirrors and Z51 spoiler, rocker extension (another less common option), bright red calipers, carbon flash standard wheels, grey interior with two tone seats and black seat belts.

Thanks for the CA C8 info. You are correct that Bright Red Calipers with Sebring Orange is fairly rare in California. I can get you the exact % a bit later. I will need the last 5 digits of the VIN, as I need to make sure I don't duplicate data. You can PM me that info if you want. Also, what dealer did you buy the C8 from?

Thanks Shiumai. With the current data, the number of Sebring Orange C8s with Bright Red Calipers (including yours) that are in (or will be in) California is 8, or 11.8% of the Orange C8s. The rarest caliper color for a Sebring Orange C8 in California is Edge Red….with a grand total of……1

Thanks CitznFish. Looks like you ordered the Custom Interior Override option. I will check and see if any other CMG C8s in California have that interior combo. I will need the last 5 digits of the VIN, as I need to make sure I don't duplicate data. You can PM me that info if you want. Also, what dealer did you buy your C8 from?
