Did you break the car in hard or did you break it in according to the manual recommendations ? The driveline machined tolerances have to be broken in easy also.
Mine wines mostly in the 40-50 MPH range. It was gently broken in. I haven't determined if it is related to a particular bank of gears. I'll discuss it with the service department when I'm there and see if there may be any info on it.
Sound from the rear of the car? Or did you mean reverse gear whine?
I reverse very very slowly when backing into my garage. Gear whine would be impossible. But who knows with this? I assumed driving in a forward direction was meant.
Usually wheel bearings make more of a roaring noise that's not speed specific. Almost every gear whine I've heard is in the 40-60 mph range. It won't improve over time.
Misaligned ring and pinions will often whine on drive, go quiet on coast
Or, vice-versa. Wheel bearing noise will change as load is shifted side-to-side.
If it’s coming from the rear of the car, it’s likely rear gear related. Improper set up can cause gears to whine under load and be quiet when coasting. There are a few posts about rear gear whine on the forum.
