Z51 C8 all season tire swap

Z51 C8 all season tire swap
I will be driving my new Z51 C8 in cold weather conditions so I want to swap out my Z51 summer tires and get the Michelin PS A/S 4 with run flat technology. However, one tire shop said that this tire is dangerous and recommends PS A/S 3+ for driving below 45 degrees F instead. Who is right? Shouldn’t I get the PS A/S 4 that Michelin specially made for this car for all season driving? I need help.

Find a new tire shop. Get the OEM all-season. A/S 3+ are the previous generation Michelin high performance all season tires.

The PS A/S 4 ZP is just fine for four season driving. Not dangerous at all. Wonder if your tire dealer just got mixed up with all the Michelin nomenclature.

Maybe the tire shop couldn’t get the PS A/S 4 ZP tires? So they made up a story to get you to buy the PS A/S 3+ tires? I would find a shop that can get you the correct ones, the PS A/S 4 ZP tires.

I'm running the OEM ZP All Season ones I bought online on a set of spare wheels I obtained on my Z51.
They seem to work exceptionally well. They have not caused me to spin out of control, blow up or any other activity that I would associate with "Dangerous".
YMMV

They probably thought you were getting PS4S, which is what comes on your Z51, not the A/S tire you were talking about.

It's not surprising that most tire shops don't know about the AS4 yet. It isn't widely available in many sizes at this point and won't be until July 2021. The OP's tire guy certainly was informed enough to know the AS3+ is a great tire and wasn't aware it had a successor since it is still available.

I would just order directly from Tirerack. I do that for every car I have owned, it’s cheaper than most places, they always have the right selection of tires for your car to select from based on your preferences and you can drop ship to your preferred install shop. I drop ship to my dealer and it’s taken care of quick and simple.

Sounds to me like he doesn't have the A/S 4 in stock, and has plenty of A/S 3s to sell.

Made the swap 10 days ago. Been driving to work (20 miles) in the dark when several days had temps in the 20s. Tire temp never got above "cold".
That said, I felt very confident in all situations. You'll be glad you made the swap.
I also got mine from Tire Rack.
