Default This experience has soured me on GM

I can appreciate the dealer who has been patient... but my tolerance for GM's incompetence is touching the breaking point. 2020 HTC, and supposedly on the way but now being held up for "dealer installed parts." Which for the price... there are far superior aftermarket offerings (wheels etc). When looking at it, and knowing, "wow, the 2021's are literally a few months away," it just leaves an awful taste in the mouth. I get some is out of their control, but I look to the competitor offerings and they don't have these issues. Just soured on GM's management *lack there of.

Is this par for the course with the New-GM?

The dealer won’t release your car until your second set of wheels arrive? Just tell the dealer you want the car now and you’ll come back for the second set of wheels when they come in. Seems to me your issue is with the dealer, not GM...

Who told you it's being held for "dealer installed parts"? What parts. Something sound fishy.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the problem probably doesn't lie with GM. The C8 uses parts supplied by more than 400 companies. ALL of which had their own issues with Coronavirus, and their own production and/or supplier issues. If GM is waiting for the front splitter for your car (just an example) because the company that makes that part is behind, it's hardly GM's fault.

2020 has been a difficult year for everyone.

You should demand a discount. This is no way to be treated.

It is amazing that GM has been able to produce so many cars during the pandemic. You should cancel your order and go buy another brand since you are going to be unhappy from now on. Any little thing that comes up you will be unhappy since you didn't get it on your terms. Like really quick.

My dealer was more than happy for me to take the car and come back for LPO parts. Sounds like your dealer is the issue, not GM.

After coming back to GM from Audi/Mercedes about 3 years ago I’ve found the dealers and experience with them to be beyond annoying. Despite dealers being rude, incompetent & conniving I’ve bought 3 new vettes and all of the cars have been truly amazing.
Good luck 👍🏼

It does sound like a dealer issue rather than GM. I do not know why they would not release your car to you and ask you to come back when the additional parts arrive. The only exception would be if a safety item was involved.

I must be missing something here. Where does the OP say the vehicle is actually being held by the dealer and not the factory?

OP was too busy ranting to give us a coherent story. Would GM hold a Z51 if the dealer-installed bits were missing? They might, but then OP wouldn't know that.

There were other reports of dealers holding cars awaiting LPO wheels.

We need more info.

For what it’s worth, I was getting irritated with the order as well and GM’s lack of communication. Then magically, as has been mentioned often here, it all went away yesterday when I picked it up. I haven’t seen the car in over a year since I was at the museum for the anniversary event 2019. I was dropping F bombs in the showroom when I saw it again yesterday. Looks like it could have easily cost double the amount. Honks, waves, and thumbs up on the two hour trip home. This car is incredible. Could the order process be improved, definitely. Is the car everything you have read about and worth the wait and hassle, definitely.

What? No. The 5-trident-spoke Black-painted aluminum wheels ($2,900) and 5-open-spoke Performance Pewter-painted aluminum wheels ($2,700) are a second set of wheels. You keep the originals.

No. The stock wheels belong to the owner.
