Default Wheels for the C8

I am on the verge of actually putting in my order on a 2021 C8 Z51. Does anyone have any info regarding the upgrade to : 5-open-spoke Carbon Flash-painted aluminum wheels with machined edge $995. Are these wheels worth $1,000? I have no experience buying different wheels for a vehicle. Also, this is my first Corvette.

1st - Same boat as yours when I bought and I did go with the 5 open spoke option wheels. Wish I hadn't. As my 14 month wait lingered on, I saw many aftermarket wheels that I felt would look better on my C8. Wish I didn't spend the extra $$ for upgraded factory option.

My advice, go with stock offered at no cost. Sadly you may have a long wait and a number of months to make a proper decision to either go for the 5 spoke upgrade or look into all that is out there for aftermarket wheels. You can always change your order all the way to prior 3000 status code.

My 5 spoke upgrades are now in the boxes my MRR's were delivered in...probably never to see daylight anytime soon!

I have the 5 spoke carbon flash wheels. I knew that I would upgrade those wheels but I also knew I would screw around trying to decide for who knows how long and wanted something a bit nicer than the standard wheels until I could get upgrades. It was worth the $1,000 to me and hopefully I can sell them and recoup a bit of what they cost.

If you're will to spend any money on wheels, go aftermarket. None of the factory options are worth their price IMO.8.5.2

So I went with the carbon flash wheels (Sebring orange exterior)... I didn't love them in pics, but they are better in person. Still not amazing but with how striking the car is, I can live with them for awhile. I considered getting the stock wheels and buying some afternarket ones, but also knew myself and I knew I would hem and haw about it for 18 months so I decided $995 now was worth it for now.

See if you like any of the aftermarket options here better than stock:

We're in the same boat.... we're just getting the base wheel and already have an aftermarket wheel picked out that will only be a few hundred more than the upgrade. We don't need the $1000/wheel choices out there, but we also want something different.
Thankfully there's a bunch of options out there.

This is the route I was going to go, but don't like the machined edge. Contacted a local powder coating place and they will take the car overnight, dismount everything, two coats of powder for $750. This is the route I'm going.
