Any HTC engine pics?
I know not too many HTC's have been delivered, but I was wondering if any owners have removed the engine compartment cover to see what's underneath.
Maybe it's just me, but I think my curiosity would get the best of me and I'd be pulling the cover as soon as I got it home and cooled down to admire the engine and also see if the cosmetic cover was installed, if there was any additional heat-shielding, or any other differences between it and the coupe.

Thanks Zmurgy, I hadn't looked through the owner's manual.
Still be curious to see some "real" pictures though.

Hmm?
Well, the Corvette design team did not spend too much time on aethetics for the HTC engine. Delete the coupe's decorative (debatable) cover and good to go. Of course, you'll only see it at a Show N Shine, but I doubt not even then. I mean would ya'? Somethings better left to the imagination eh.

I bumped Jeremy's Carlisle thread back to the top as this answers some of the questions posted here:

start about 5 minutes in. Rapid blue HTC eye candy.

Here's the engine/shield cover on the HTC (which is bolted in place):

It looks to me like you could store things there if you were always driving with the top up.

Maybe something 2-3 inches thick and able to withstand the heat.

Here is how Mclaren does it with their new GT car. They cover the engine area with a heat resistant material so you can put items back there. The told me that the temp does not exceed 100 F. I think that number may not be accurate in real life operation. ( think Florida ) Now this is a coupe not a convert but does address the question about storage on top of engine.

Why does it matter the the black shield isn’t a work of art? You can only see it during the 16 seconds it takes the top to go up or down. The plastic tubs in the frunk or trunk aren’t works of art either, or the underside of the frunk lid or the underside of the hatch. I don’t understand why some people think that the engine cover shield should be some thing of beauty.

If the engine is on fire, especially with the gas tanks in close proximity, it's time to call your insurance agent.
