C8 Windshield replacement
Took delivery of my C8 and drove it home from Estero Florida to Ocala via I75.
A rock hit my windshield just above the hood.
It was a small chip and I planned on having it repaired.
Overnight it cracked across the windshield about 2 feet.
I am beyond devastated.
I checked the Safelite website and they don't even list a 2020 Corvette.
I hate to have it replaced by someone who never did this on a C8.
Anybody have any suggestions on what I should do next?

I agree. If you drive the car at all rock chips in the paint and windshield are a distinct possibility. The first one is always the hardest to accept, but it can be fixed.
Hopefully the dealer will have access to a replacement windshield and will be able to arrange for the replacement to happen.

Bad deal no other way to describe it. But good news too. Windshield replacements are pretty straightforward. Safelite does them in your driveway so not much mystery to the process. The other day, another glass company was replacing one in the Wal Mart parking lot so easy to do. While there might not be one listed online, doesn't mean there isn't one out there. Likely your insurance is going to cover it. Windshield damage is a mandatory insurance rider in AZ. Companies have to cover it. We have lots of gravel on our roads. Since we have little rain thus little grass, gravel is SOP for lawns. Our 'hood's CCRs prohibit grass in the front, you have to use gravel. So lots of gravel trucks circulating in Tucson. Ergo lots of auto glass damage. In our 30 years here, we've only had one car that didn't need a new windshield at some point. The current C7. My F150 had 3 replacements. You're understandably unhappy, but don't despair. Help is as close as your phone. Its why you pay for insurance eh?

On my way to the local dealer. Other concern was that the windshield has to have the "HUD"symbol on it.
The dealer I bought the car from assured me that at present there is no aftermarket glass so I should be OK.

So sorry to read this, but it is part of driving any vehicle. Unfortunately, I suspect you'll be the replacement guinea pig anywhere you go. The actual process shouldn't amount to much... once someone can shake out a replacement glass.

My ‘13 GS was only about 3 weeks old when a rock from an opposite-direction gravel truck hit right in front of my face, and provided an unwanted early Halloween spider web decoration. I think I actually might have invented some new profanities in the few minutes following impact.
But it turned out fine. Insurance covered it (Though they wouldn’t pop for a HUD windshield. It was a 1LT, and I had installed a factory HUD myself, so I tried. No dice.).
The Safelite guy replaced it in my driveway, and I watched. Nothing cosmic. It was his first C6 windshield replacement, so I was a little anxious. Turns out, I didn’t need to be. Your baby will be fine.

Cost me 400 bucks and it's like ppf. This way something like that happens its less likely to crack the windshield and all the regular wear and tear (sandblast effect) means nothing as they peel and replace every few years or longer. It also blocks UV rays saving interior some. Good luck. Hopefully less involved than the C7 windshield which chevy apparently didn't think would need to be replaced and made it difficult to safely remove A pillar parts.

Don't be surprised that non-dealer repair shops will NOT have that windshield. There are simply not enough of them on the road to make stocking them feasible. I went through this in January with my wife's new Caddy XT6. It was a brand new model for Cadillac and the dealer had to replace it (long story). They had to actually pull one off the assembly line and have it shipped by truck to the dealership. Took about 3 weeks.

OP. You may want to look into a product called clearplex or Bray. Couple others. When you get the windshield done.
I did this on my 2019 because my 2016 was pitted and had several decent size chips at only 9k miles when I traded it in.
Cost me 400 bucks and it's like ppf. This way something like that happens its less likely to crack the windshield and all the regular wear and tear (sandblast effect) means nothing as they peel and replace every few years or longer. It also blocks UV rays saving interior some. Good luck. Hopefully less involved than the C7 windshield which chevy apparently didn't think would need to be replaced and made it difficult to safely remove A pillar parts.

Yes I was told that. I called the dealer I bought from and they assured me that presently there are no C8 aftermarket windshields available,so I should be OK.

To me this is more important then any paint protection. All my Corvette’s seemed to have soft glass. The amount of pitting was incredible. Good suggestion.

I looked at it like this, pick up the new car get it home get to ppf and clearplex. I had to wait about 3 weeks to really drive it beyond the 160mi home because I just didn't want to chance a big chip.
Worth the wait and i already have 3 chips in the Clearplex after a year of driving that would've been my actual windshield.
I spend the 400 bucks on the clearplex now and let me have to change that every 3 or 4 years and have a new looking. Windshied vs ever having my windshield torn out.
It's probably a small chance if the install getting botched, but I have had it happen where there were water leaks and creaking etc over the course of 30 years of driving and probably 10 windshields replaced due to either cracks or destroyed.

I had to have two windshields replaced in my ZL1 with HUD because of flying rocks that cracked them. The NCM Insurance was great and arranged to have OEM glass ordered and installed in the car. As others have said there is no deductible or other charges in Florida. Have the dealer order a new windshield. Most dealers have professional glass installers aka: Safelite, take out and install the windshield.

My 2011 ZR1 was only 5 months old when I had to have Safelite replace mine in my carport. No sweat.
