what tires did ZL1 have ?
an experienced Nurburgring guy, Vittel, Sebastian (not Vettel) do BTG 6.55 with his GT2 RS, so I tend to listen to him
CUP2R = 6.55
Cup2 N2= 7.05
4S=7.30
so its 25 seconds from cup2 and 4S on a Porsche GT2 RS

My guess is that on identical cars and conditions, the difference between tires like an MPSS and a Cup2, could easily be 3-4 seconds, and a "Cheater DOT" tire could be more.

But, thanks for your opinion.

You do realize that there are a ton of car guys who feel the same way about being seen in a Corvette, right? I think there are more jokes about Corvette owners than any other sports car. Doesn't make them right, any more than you are about being seen in a Camaro.
But, thanks for your opinion.

My neighbor doesn't like my car at all. He doesn't say it sucks or it's ugly. He just said, "i''m perfectly fine to never own or driven a corvette, i don't need to". haha
He drives a stage 4 911 turbo s that traps 140+.
I wanna have a comeback to that indirect jab at the car but i can't. Because he has a better car.
Idk why corvette guys think their cars are the best. I don't wanna be seen in a camaro?? lol
No one gives a **** about a corvette. I get more looks from females driving my CT6 than i do in my Z. Which is dropped with aftermarket wheels. It looks amazing. Girls don't care. Neither do most of the people out there.

Well 99.9% of the population does not care about the C8 or sports cars in general. However, people in to cars (like those on a car forum) know about the C8 and know about the Nurburgring and times there do matter to car guys. That is why all the manufacturer's test there. I had a new ZL1 and a couple C7 Corvettes. I liked them all. I think the most surprising thing is that the C8 did not thrash the base ZL1 at the ring considering it is a Corvette and is mid-engine and has a 0-60 time of 2.8 seconds. I guess it just goes to show that 0-60 times do not matter on a track that has turns.
Of course when the C8 Z06 gets released I think we will see times closer to the ZL1 LE which is around 15 seconds faster. Personally I am waiting for the C8 Z06 to purchase. I sold my C7 Corvette and I purchased a 2006 S2000 as my weekend car until the C8 Z06 is released.

These "Ring" time threads can be filled with the stuff that just makes a person go WTF?
First of all 99.999% of the world has never heard of or could care less about the "Ring".
This thread is attempting to highlight what some genius considers to be a grand beating or shocking comparison with a 0.3 of a second differential in an event that takes a sleep inducing 7 and a half minutes. That is a minute fraction of one percent difference and it is an "Awe see!" inspiring event for some people. Amazing that any one cares or sees it this way.

The ZL1 is 250hp up on the C8, and its a heck of a car in its own right. The ring favors high hp cars to begin with, and the C8s times beat the 992 Carrera S as a PROTOTYPE car with Oliver Gavin who has limited Nurburgring race time. It matters greatly about seat time, like no other track in the world proffessional or not. Many locals are fast there because they know every inch of the track. What Jim Mero did there is legendary.
The ZL1 is very far from being a grand tourer.

IMO the same time around the ring as ZL1 is a C8 win giving up 155 HP. Looking at 7:28 times the C8 and ZL1 are in good company and faster then a slew of performance cars. Lots of mention of Tesla in these threads and the 8:03 looks like it’s a dog at least at the ring.

FWIW, this is old news.
Chevrolet released C8s Nordschleife time in early February 2020. The car was driven by Oliver Gavin, as some of you may know he has been a Corvette factory driver since 2002. He has an impressive "track record" (pun intended), five American Le Mans Series class championships, five 24 Hours of Le Mans class wins, five 12 Hours of Sebring class wins and five Petit Le Mans class wins.
The Camaros were driven by Bill Wise, Camaro ride and handling engineer. ZL1(A10) ZLE(M6).
When Jim Mero, Corvette dynamics engineer (ZR1) bested Billy Johnson Ford factory driver (Ford GT) by a little over a second at VIR GCW it was a great victory for all motorsports enthusiasts. Performance value; ZR1 ($145K)>Ford GT($475K). Although the Corvette had a 112 HP advantage over the GT, the cost compared to performance level greatly favor the ZR1. When you consider not only the cost but that an engineer smoked a professional race car pilot, IMO, the performance level becomes even more obvious and relative (on a circuit).
For the 0-60, straight line and electrified crowd; the GT likely is faster, as the ZR1, (not unlike the ZL1) does not put the power down from a dig as well as ME or electric. 50-150 however, is a different animal altogether. Drive what you love, on any given day there is always someone faster than you.
With that stated Z51 and ZLE are priced similarly. From a dig, roll, canyon carver, AX, solo and circuit (HPDE and wheel to wheel) are all very different disciplines. Heck, some drive sexy cars to impress at the C&C. All good. I'm a circuit, canyon guy, I chose my weekend car based on that as well as performance levels per $.
C8 Z06 looks to be very special, hopefully it will be a great value as well. Lateral acceleration of 1.18 g(12m s2) and 60-0mph in 91ft. and 650/650 are bars set high. When C8 Z06 gets there, assuming that the price is managed as well as it has been for Stingray Z51, I'll trade my ZLE for one.
What great days are these? Amazing power levels and phenomenal grip.... with a factory warranty!

The C8 ISNT hype. Its turning into something more akin to beyond exceptional at this point.

Bull ****. Try to buy a new 2020 ZL1 in todays market for under $60,000 including dealer fees and come back and tell us when you do. I shopped hard to buy mine for $65K in February. Try posting some real world facts for once instead of something you read online somewhere else.

Looking at Autotrader I do see brand new ZL1's listed for $62-63K. How real that is and if you can negotiate lower I will leave that up to you.
I paid $43K and change on the door yesterday on a brand new SS1LE and I was able to get it thosands below their first quote and there were only 4-5 new SS1LE's listed within 4 states of me. All the other dealers wanted $45-46K out the door.

Well with inventories so low and GM not producing cars and it being summertime you are right, prices have gone up. All I can tell you that I test drove a ZLE late last year (Nov) at Davidson Chevy in CT and they offered my $59999 on a brand new ZLE. I think the sticker was $72K or $74K. I also qualify for supplier pricing and a number of other rebates and you can take advantage of GM credit card points to save another $500-1000 (you don't have to have the GM card to take advantage).

So, post up all of those new 2020 ZL1's for under $60k.
