What a mess my C8 has turned into
Well where do I begin, first avoid Van Chevrolet as if they are the Covid-19 virus. They are dishonest, unethical and don't care about customers I order my car from Van's on 10/19, went to 3000 late Jan.. Had the GM build sheet emailed to me with the price of the car and my position on the list. Was told then they wanted a 10k deposit when the car was accepted by GM which they later said was not necessary. My car was built on 7/14 and shipped the dealer on 7/22. When the car shipped they called me to come down and pay for the car. The dealer at that point did no honor the original price and added $2700 worth of crap(nitrogen filled tires($229), door edge guards($295), door cups($195), Tint($595), Zaktek($1,395) to the deal along with making me finance a minimum 1/2 with their bank and refusing to take a check or let me use my bank USAA. When I questioned them they said if I did not like it I could go find another car and they are doing me a favor selling me the Corvette.
My car got to Phoenix on 7/28 and I figured I would get my car in a couple of days. Called my sales guy and he confirmed the car was at the Phoenix railyard and would be at the dealer soon but because of union rules and the lack of car haulers he had no idea when the car would be trucked the 20 miles to the dealer. One week passed and a few calls and showing up at the dealer and the same garbage about lack of car haulers and union rules. azrod another forum member who I have been in contact with as we both had orders with the same dealer and salesman was in the area of the railyard and took a look for me. He saw no Corvette's and said the yard was pretty empty
Emailed my sales guy and he went radio silent. Went down again to the dealer on 8/7 and got the same answer. Monday I started pushing it and contacted the Concierge and they said they had no idea and i had to check with the dealer. Email my sales guy two more times with nothing. Yesterday with the bit in my teeth I went in and they asked me to sit in a room while they figured out where my car was. I was having nothing of that and as the sales guy walked into the sales managers room I followed and started questioning the sales manager who seemed uncomfortable but admitted the train car had been damaged in route. The union was refusing to remove cars from it until a GM rep came down and checked to see if the cars were damage and how damaged they were. I told them I would not be accepting a damaged car. The sales manager said they would back out the whole sale and I could go find a car somewhere else. He said they had 5 other C8 on the rail car and there is nothing they could do until the GM rep showed up to check out the cars. He said after that they would unload the cars to a dealer area where they had 72 hours to pick up the cars and at that point they would dispatch a hauler to the yard to pick up the cars. With all the lies I don't know if they are just trying to wait me out so I give up and get the refund which they can then sell the car for a hefty markup as I have been lied to so much I have no idea what the truth is.

Yep, that sounds like a frustrating mess. Good luck with a resolution. Amazing dealers think that they can still pass off a wax job and a can of 3m carpet protection for high cost add ons.

Wow, that is really unfortunate. I hope things get resolved to your satisfaction. If it doesn't I would suggest doing some internet reviews on sites like Yelp, BBB, and others, Be very factual. The truth will withstand libel claims. Words like liar, charlatan, and other insults are not your friend. Pure facts, they said, they agreed to, etc.
Good Luck!

The add-on stuff is BS. But to the rest of the story it seems plausible and I am not sure what the dealer can do. To their point those union rules are no joke. I would say hold the line, as long as your comfortable paying for the BS stuff, and wait to see how it plays out. At this point you would be lucky to get another car by next Spring unless you get lucky or pay ADM.

Some time ago, got a PM from someone who was buying from a a Hendrick dealership BUT NOT where I bought my early 2014 Z51 in February 2013 right after the launch at the Detroit Auto Show, Hendrick in Cary NC. He also wanted to know the dealership in SC that was doing my C8 Courtesy Delivery (great folks who did my 2017 Grand Sport for the same $350.) For the 2014 Z51, Headrick in Cary were one of the few taking "hold-a-spot" orders at MSRP - what every it would be.
The forum member sending a PM was buying from one of the "Hendrick Dealerships" (think he owns 50!) BUT as I found in 2013 they all operate differently. In this posters C8 buy he was required to take $2000 ceramic coating. Unfortunately a common practice for some dealerships! Have to ask before signing.

Sorry to hear how they're treating you, OP. As someone that worked there many, many moons ago, I can confirm that they are not someone you generally want to be doing business with (at least on the sales side). I looked at some C7's there last year (pre-unveiling) and they were telling myself and other customers that they had inside info that the C8 had an MSRP north of $100k, likely just to push their unsold inventory...

I would find out who the zone rep is for Chevrolet and try to disengage from communication with this dealer as much as possible.
This has been a bad trip for you. Maybe a Twin Turbo at Penske sounds awfully good.

What a complete **** show, that dealer is an example of everything that can be wrong in the car business. I agree with MichaelT and get in touch with the zone rep, this is as wrong as it gets. It does sound like they know they can sell it right now for at least $10k over list and they are desperate to push you away from the car.

To me, it appears they would like you to be the one to decide to back out of the deal. They have an extra $15000-$25000 on the line if you do.

That is what I am thinking. Anybody know the name and number for the zone rep for Arizona. Plus just got off the phone with the Corvette Concierge, the girl Alana is no longer there so my emails were bounced back. Nicholas said he would be escalating this and hopefully within 48 hours the zone rep will be getting back to me. .

Funny, I did go right up to Penske after leaving Van's and talked with GM up there who I know well from the two dozen cars I have bought from them over the years. Would be able to get a very nice 2021 TTS with my 2017 TTS as a trade and some of the money from the 2020 Corvette. Maybe even do the European delivery and see my birth mother in April or May. Plus take another spin on the Autobahn and see what it will do.
