Trying to surprise wife at the museum?
#81
Not what I wanted to hear but the ncm was told an update would not come before Tuesday. I guess I’ll fly home and try to have it shipped out. Very frustrating

So sorry for this misfortune! My wife and I took Museum delivery of our car uneventfully back in 2015 and I cannot imagine the roller-coaster ride of emotions you and your wife have endured today. Just know that once this has passed and you have the car at home, you will look back on it in 5 years and fondly remember the time together, the excitement, the disappointment, the second phase of the anticipation once the recall is done and you finally get to take the car...and you will smile and say that you did it together. You are making a memory that you will never forget. This, too, shall pass. Enjoy the experience!

We were all rooting for you on your surprise. At least your surprise came through, just not the trip home together in the car. You will certainly have a unique story to tell later in life, and I am sure your wife appreciates the thought that went into this nevertheless, which is what really counts.

I'm sure folks scheduled after got calls, and to their credit, the NCM is picking up his travel back home. He also said they are trying to arrange help with shipping.

6837. Ncm says all the cars are on stop sale and bowling green does not have the fix
murphy is strong with me. Couldn’t land in Phoenix so we had to go to Las Vegas to refuel so 6 hour trip getting back turned to 10 best case scenario if our connection is delayed as much as us because we are headed back to Phoenix.....
if I fly back out to pick it up I may spend about as much time flying as driving it back across the country pathetic

90sundevil reported that he picked up his new car at a dealership yesterday! He did not report about the recall.

back at home and getting over my depression, first world problems lol, and I thought I would answer some of the questions above. Thanks so much for the support
everything was going as planned, totally pulled the surprise off I had some legitimate and fake business purposes to be in memphis and I spun off nashville as a side show/anniversary trip and when asked I told her that we were going to do the corvette track experience the next day. She was surprised that there was the museum there and I told her we were checking in there. Larry who is the perfect gentleman met us at the door and I told him our names and that we were here for the vip tour. Larry mentioned paperwork and kept saying your car and she started to clue in about the 4th or 5th time when we were standing in front of it, I finally had to point out her name on the placard. The masks make it hard to hear and see peoples expressions, so that made it all the more confusing. Would of been much nicer without them.
Everything proceeded as normal, went in the office and filled out the macmulkin paperwork, we received the keys and Larry had us pull around the rental car to the front door to unload so we brought all the luggage in and then Shane came over and gave us the bad news, he was checking with the higher ups and I thought, we had taken delivery and they would sort their stuff out, positive thinking..... So we put our luggage in the car and proceeded with the ncm tour. When we were done with that it was a full no you can't take the car and I asked them to at least let us do the pictures and take the car out the tunnel, after some hesitation they agreed. My wife got to drive the car 100 feet from the living the dream picture to our rental car to swap luggage again. In hindsight this may of been our buddy Larry giving us our chance to bolt, as all our bags where in the vette, at least ill think that way. I told my wife to take off, you know the joke, that is serious.... But I am too respectful and continued as I said i would, and did not take the car without their permission.
I chose to hang out for a day to see if the update would come, which obviously it did not but seriously how hard could it be to change the do not open speed from 80 mph to 26 mph?
I tried to explain to the ncm that I had already taken delivery, macmulkin received my checks on the 14th for payment in full. And of course I also tried to get them to pull the frunk fuse and let us on our way. Ncm told me they would pay for my trip back home but wouldn't commit to shipping the car to CA but that they hoped gm would reimburse them (for covering our flight back home) and cover additional delivery/travel expenses.
our current plan is to fly back as soon as they release it and drive it back particularly if the update comes out Tuesday. if its 2-3 weeks from now we may have to have it shipped.
Like everyone else here we just want to get the car in our possession as soon as possible.

My wife is very jealous. Sorry for all your troubles. I hope the update comes very soon for you. I wonder what they would have done if you did take off with the car. The car will be worth the wait. Wishing you guys all the best. I can't believe that you had to go though this. Beautiful car. Gary

Well, actually it wouldn't have been stolen as all paperwork was done and the car was paid for. I have done 7 deliveries and all my paperwork from the dealer had to be done before I got to the museum and I just needed to show proof of insurance, registration and paperwork that the car was paid for. Like 2turbocobra, I too would have not bolted, but not really sure what they could do about it. Now GM on the other hand could slap the NCM real hard for letting it get away, glad that didn't happen.
