Default C8’s for sale at MSRP on dealer lots

In the last week I have noticed more and more C8’s, priced at MSRP, sitting on dealer lots. Are these cars sold orders that the buyer folded or is GM cranking out plane old unsold inventory?

Per Mike Furman@Criswell Multiple Corvette truckloads are arriving weekly here at Criswell Chevrolet...they are all sold orders. Once the new 2020 Corvettes are released to shipping status GM puts them on our web site. I repeat, they are All Sold factory orders.

No. These are placeholders on the Autotader, Car.com, etc sites. They get posted online even if they are sold orders. I bet you 99% of them are already sold. But you can start contracting dealers to find out.

Also beware that just because it says MSRP online does not mean there is not a $5-20K+ market adjustment tacked on. You have to ask.

Where? Post dealer names or links.

Threads like this have been popping up since the first 2020s were produced. The cars aren't there and aren't available, with few extremely rare exceptions.

"released to shipping status", does that mean 4000 or 4B00 or 4150 or 4200 status?

4000 Vehicle Available to Ship
4B00 Bayed
4150 Vehicle Invoiced
4200 Vehicle Shipped

I thought the same thing. I was calling dealers that had them listed on their site. These are NOT available cars. GM puts them on the individual delaers site the dealer does not. All the sold incoming orders you will see on dealers websites but I can almost guarantee they are pre sold.

So why doesn't GM fix this "glitch"? This has been going on for months and nobody does anything about it? The old bait-and-switch to get potential buyers into the showroom where the salesmen can work their magic and sell them a Camaro or pick-up.

Because it's across the board on all models. Not just the Corvette model. Potential customers are able to see what car, truck, or SUV will be arriving to the dealership shortly. The dealership needs to manually prevent the Corvette feed from loading onto their websites.

This doesn't "get fixed" because this is how it operates across the entire GM lineup. 99.9+% of vehicles delivered to dealers are NOT sold orders.

Don't swallow the bait the troll has thrown out. Just an attempt to stir up the forum. Thread should be closed/locked.

OTOH, 100% of Corvette builds for the past 6 months have all been sold orders. So this "bait-and-switch" tactic has been known for over a year and has been happening for 6 months with no end in sight. GM can't figure out how to fix it? Really? Things happen for a reason.

Why - because this isn’t happening in your little world? In my area, three of the four Chevy dealers have had a total of five C8s delivered from BG and for sale at MSRP during the last month. All but the one that came in two days ago sold within a couple of days. Obviously, not all C8 builds are sold customer cars...

Please list the name of the dealers that have MSRP C8s sitting on the lot, my dealer will buy them on the spot. He has offered $10k over and was turned down by dealers. At least that's the way it is in my little world. Waiting for the list.

And of course you know this to be true because you have a blue force tracker that notified you when the C8s showed up at the three of the four dealers and also satellite pictured the VINs so you could hack the GM system to determine whether they were MSRP or not and also notified you when they were sold to lot customers and tagged the time on the lot.
Obviously your name should be Bond, Track Bond.

I realize your primary mission here to to just rag on GM/Chevy/Corvette/C8, but do you have any clue how businesses decide which "problems" to spend money on? Hint: you spend your money where it will have the greatest impact. This item has virtually zero impact to GM so why should they spend any of their resources to fix it? There are much bigger issues to address. Future product direction, electrification, autonomous vehicles, etc.

Dealerships can edit this information. Some do, some don't.

My primary mission here is to advocate for transparency and honesty by dealers and GM. Apparently you have a problem with that because it does not produce the biggest bang for the buck. My clue about business is that transparency and honest dealing creates customer satisfaction. Many businessmen only learn that the hard way, if at all.
