Default One downside of the C8

I’m pumped for my C8 to arrive but I will miss flexibility that the rear hatch in previous generations offered. I was able to take my C6 camping without any issues.

The C8 does have the 4x4 stance to get you off the beaten path.

In all seriousness though that is one area that may not be the strong point for the C8. When I moved cross country I drove my C6. Packed to the gills with my dog in the passenger seat. It was an awesome trip.

I sell on Ebay my previous generations had the big rear area. It was good for going to Fedex.

But my C8 is the best vette out of 8!

My Corvettes are true daily drivers and will be used to get groceries, road trips, etc. Camping is just an example of how the space is useful.

Seriously, there is only 1 way to go explore the outdoors. BTW, I do not endorse buying one - I'm sure by now, you've heard my rants on how pathetic the RV industry is. I'll save my C8 for cruising - interstate and back roads that used to be reserved for my MC rides. BTW, there is no downside to the C8 - aside from deciding when to go and take it for a spin.

I plan to retire in an RV and do some real exploring but that is at least 35 years away.

OP, out of curiosity, your camp ground looks extremely sparse. are you sure that amount of stuff won't fit? Pop up is no bigger than golf club bag

So I can’t take a C8 on a two week elk hunting trip to Wyoming?

I think the main items that wouldn’t fit in the c8 are the corn hole boards and the 48 quart hard sided cooler.

Everything else is either long and skinny (pop-up, tent, chairs), small (camp grill, lights, wood) or soft (air mattress, bedding, luggage) and would fit in the c8.

there was more in the car than what you can see in the photo!

Two words, Roof Rack.

How did the two guys on the TV Show Route 66 have enough room for all their stuff?

I do remember the Corvette(s) used on the Show had the optional Chrome Luggage Rack.

Years ago I suggested to my Wife that we go Camping.

She told me to get back to her when the Ritz Carlton built a Camper.

The only downside of the C8 is how difficult they are to come by!

A bit light and short range for elk. And while you're getting that out of the trunk for self-defense someone will do the Mozambique Drill on your a$$

The C7 storage space is cavernous for a sports car while the C8 loses 2.4 cubic feet compared to the C7. From a practical standpoint the shapes of the two storage areas (funk & trunk) in the C8 eliminates the use of standard luggage. So you really lose more than 2.4 cubic feet.

It’s one of the big things holding me back from buying a C8 as 90% of our C7 driving is long/extended road trips. It’s also nice to set a medium sized ice chest right behind our shoulders.

For those who own a C7 convertible and switch to a C8 Coupe will find it has amble space.
