Another dumb comparison. There is more to owning any sports car than price and speed. Some of the posts in these threads are ridiculous. Every McClaren on the road is obviously broken and does not run. Ok.

This one is running just fine. Guess it must be the only one on the planet that is......

I'm shopping a McClaren now, having given up on the C8 fiasco. Double the price, for a used model that only slightly faster than a C8. Maybe I'm making a giant mistake, and should go back and order a 2021 C8. I do like the McClaren sheetmetal and sound.

If your main concern is performance than you probably are making a giant mistake, the performance difference is minimal in most modern high performance cars, the difference between an 11 second car and a 10 second car is honestly not that much if you're watching them race, buy a car for how it makes you feel and what you wanna look at sitting in your garage every day you drive home.
I'll have no problems at all spending the money on a Ferrari 458 that's slower than my modded zr1, I can't wait to park it next to it

McLaren 570S is much more than slightly faster than a stock C8. I've seen a stock 570S run 10.3 at 133. Downpipe and tune you're in the 9's easy. The thing is will you get one that's not gonna have maintenance issues?. Some McLaren owners get lucky and don't have issues and others have all types of issues and their car is out of service for weeks to months at a time.

Isn't that kinda like what's going on with C8s right now? Some owners have had no issues, others have had transmissions replaced, or oil tanks replaced, or electrical issues, etc? Yes, it is a bit more highlighted due to the low number of cars built to this point... but McLaren doesn't make 40k 570S a year either, possibly inflating the perception there too.

Driving I95 South to Miami a few months ago and saw multiple McClarens on Flat Bed Tow vehicles. None were wrecked. All were incapacitated. I didn't see a single Corvette of any vintage (C!, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8 ) or Age on any tow vehicle. So let's see, that is say 4 out of 10,000+ vs 0 (Yes, ZERO) out of 1,659,067 (at a minimum) on that drive. Building 10-20 vs hundreds a day, $60 K vs $xxx, xxx. So keep comparing super cars. The C8 is THE Game Changer!

Michael Ballaban 12/15/16 There Are Now More Than 10,000 McLarens In The World. In early 2016, a second shift began at the McLaren Production Center to accommodate the increase in orders after the introduction of the Sports Series family. This took capacity at the Production Center from 10 cars per day to 20 cars per day.

These are not drag cars. Watch the latest Speed Phenom video and you see a base model Corvette run basically even with a McClaren on a road course. Embarrassing if I were a McClaren owner.

LOL no mclaren owner is embarrassed, I am embarrassed to be part of this forum sometimes though, and I currently own and have owned many corvettes and gm vehicles. It's not all about performance numbers... There's many factors that people take into consideration before buying a car

Yep you have a point. One difference is Chevy parts might be more readily available if something needs to be fixed compared to McLaren where a part might have to be shipped from England. That contributes to the down time when a McLaren needs maintenance. If you're close to a McLaren dealership its not a big deal especially if you have a warranty. Id say its a must to buy an extended warranty if you're gonna pick up a used McLaren. A McLaren 570 Spyder is tops on my list to replace my supercharged C7 one day but i worry about not having a McLaren dealership even close to where i live. I think the closest one is like 4 hours away. Not too big of a deal but something to consider.

Well if you want to play the reliability game Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 25th out of 30th (Cadillac is ranked 30th) and Porsche is #4.

So yeah.

No need to exagerate or make negative generalizations about the prevailing perceptions here. I don't recall anyone claiming that all Mclarens are broken down and parked somewhere. The unreliable nature and frequent failure of the Mclaren drive train is well documented.

Default c8 vs mclaren

New Corvette C8 Is Faster Than McLaren 570S, BMW M5 & Nissan GT-R. ... More to that is the 570S delivers 443 lb-ft from 5000-6500 rpm, whereas the new C8 with optional exhaust upgrade or Z51 pack produces 465 lb-ft at 5150 rpm. The 570S produces 562 hp at 7500 rpm while the C8 Z51 makes 495 hp at 6450 rpm.. sweettt!

What did you expect with
a) smaller frontal area,
b) 70 more HP
c) 300 fewer pounds.

Just as I expected the 570s blew by the c8 like It was standing still lol, I thought I was funny that delusional c8 fan boys think c8 hangs or beats huracan or 570s .... in the previous threads

They are different levels of performance at different price points. The Z06 would likely be a better competitor whenever that is released, of course by that time McClaren will likely have updates too.

The Huracan is a great car but is slow in the turns. I would fully expect the 570 to be faster in all segments of the track.

McLaren service can get expensive just get a warranty and your good. If not I would not own one again.

an assumption
many owners live 100’s of miles away from dealership, thus most likely what you had seen was a simple service trip.

I like McLaren but after it goes **** up good luck getting your cars repaired WHEN they break down.
